*BUYING* on Poshmark

Yeah, some of the sellers there... UGH. I bought a Balenciaga wallet and the seller refused to ship until she got her money. She accused me of trying to scam her! :whut: Demanded I pay again, directly thru Paypal or she would not ship. I explained in detail how the process worked but she refused to budge.. I asked her to cancel the order then & release my payment and she refused to do that too. It took a few weeks to get my money back. The same thing has happened to me on eBay.. Sometimes it's a scammer but sometimes the seller just doesn't have a clue about the process.

When I saw this topic, I thought it was going to be about all the fakes there lately.. It's been terrible. You can tell they are all the same person, under multiple names, same items listed same photos etc..
In PM's defense; I have reported the users for counterfeits, entire closets of fakes relisted daily. PM has removed them pretty quickly, an hour or two an poof so I'll give them credit for that.
that's unfortunate......I've had good luck there with the exception of sellers who don't answer questions. the last bag I bought was one of those and it turned out ok

I should have said that I've also had great luck there with the vast majority of sellers. I've purchased a wide variety of things and been very pleased with the experience.
The bad experiences have been rare but they do happen. Most of the people I've dealt with have been very nice, shipped quick & done a professional job.

same here.....I've had some negative experiences with communication but not with actual buying and selling.....recently I made an offer on a bag to someone I'd brought from before. the bag has been on there since at least last January. my offer wasn't that far off asking. rather than counter, she declined my offer. and she did it immediately. OK - keep you bag - I got another one.

This happens to me too, and has recently. I think that honestly people must set up their accounts and just forget about them -- maybe they don't have notifications enabled or change their e-mail address or something. These days I look at the 'last active' or 'last seen' date to make sure they're not inactive.

Yeah I get this too.
I usually try to check the "last active" or "last updated" date to see how recent it was.
For listings that have been up awhile I use the "offer" button or post a message and ask if the item is still available.
These 2 things help but surprisingly they don't eliminate the nonshippers entirely. :-s

I don't get some of these sellers. I have an offer pending but doubt it will be accepted. the seller was very active with 45 love notes but hasn't been seen for two years. still has a bunch of items for sale. where do they go? maybe she had some personal issue or died? searched for the item elsewhere thinking maybe she decided she didn't like posh anymore but didn't find it listed on Mercari or anywhere else.

Yeah I've had that happen myself..
I think Posh could be proactive and not delete but at least pause a closet.
Perhaps put a warning about inactivity and pause any sales/offers..
It could be all done via automatic algorithm.. SIGH

they didn't allow me to do a BIN due to inactivity...suggested an offer

I thought with her stellar record it might be worth a try but she hasn't responded

Ok good. Thanks for that.. At least they're trying..
Doesn't excuse the seller though..
I've left word with my family, if anything ever happens to take my shops off line..
I hope they will but it might not be tops on their list. A lot of sellers do just abandon their closets/listings too. I can't understand that.

I had this happen with a dress I purchased. Seller hadn't shipped after 7 days so I had to cancel the order. Why sell if you aren't going to ship? I also have issue with additional pictures. I am currently interested in a Chanel WOC and have asked the seller to post a pic of the interior serial number and she won't do it. I don't understand. If you are trying to sell an item, esp an expensive one, wouldn't you post the pics people ask for? It over $500 so it would go through Posh authenticate if I purchase but idk if I even trust the authenticators....

Wise to not blindly trust the authenticators there or eBay or most sites that sell used items. They may have the best of intentions but can still make mistakes. I've seen mistakes on both those sites, even TRR occasionally lists counterfeits.
Know your brand and if you have doubts, have a 3rd party authenticate it to be safe.

The worst is when you search far & wide for a specific item and find the exact one listed on PM. Then you learn they don't reply to messages and in fact, haven't signed on in over a year! This is such a disappointment. It's happened to me multiple times.

And I agree, if you're selling an expensive, designer item, you should be eager and happy to add any photos a potential buyer requests. If you're unwilling to do that or you get annoyed with questions; there is a reason. I would be very cautious about buying from a seller that refuses to honor requests for photos & info.

Completely agree. The seller even deleted a couple of my comments asking why she wouldn't provide more pics. So shady. No idea what the seller is up to, but I don't think they are up to any good. My only guess is that she has a super fake that she thinks she could successfully sneak past authentication. I def won't be putting in an offer now and am steering clear. So frustrating though.
