Buying off Instagram | Instagram Sellers

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

Mostly it is because sellers are not running declared businesses. They are not paying taxes on their sales etc. The payments they are taking are personal payments (bank transfer, F&F) and sometimes they even ask for it to go to a different account as Paypal will flag their account with too many F&F payments. The problem with this is the buyer has no back-up and their payment is not protected at all.

In the case of The Designer Secret, she was even getting people to send money to her husband's account. Her bank became suspicious about money laundering with the amounts she was taking.

No bag is worth risking losing your money. These 'businesses' might have good intention to supply the goods but who knows when their banks or paypal might suddenly freeze all their funds and then the buyers are stuck trying to contact a seller who disappears.

From using IG personal shoppers/sellers myself this is definitely true. So many slightly dodgy practices. Some even want a deposit first before sourcing paid to paypal friends and family. I refuse to buy unless it is a registered business with proper payment system now, there is just no protection otherwise

This is exactly what TDS did, took deposits for pre-orders then never delivered and all these deposits have been ‘lost‘. No bag is honestly worth the risk.

I saw that their account got disabled. Maybe try contact them through this one?

Does anyone have contact information for Jess at the now disappeard Instagram store 'JLuxuryShop', or (the still going) 'JLuxuryShopHermes'?
I ordered and pair for a pair of Hermes Chypre from her on 1 November and they have never appeared . She doesn't respond to messages or WhatsApp phone calls.
Do not purchase from this Instagram account!!

I am so sorry that you experienced this!
I purchased from her a few years back and and her communication was poor back then. I had to wait two weeks for the tracking (after countless messages to her on instagram and WhatsApp, which she read but didn't respond to).

I have seen her quite a few times in her Insta stories write up about her 'clients' giving her large tips. Just sharing that info (to me) is a little odd.

I would honestly recommend that you send her a WhatsApp message again and or perhaps send a message to her personal account on Insta (https://www.instagram.com/jluxuryshopofficial/) Her page is linked in the bio on this back-up page.

Maybe let her know that you will be writing a lengthy and 'honest' review on the forum (and other review platforms) of your very poor experience with her?

Sometimes letting these people know that you will speak about these experiences gives them a much needed nudge to (hopefully) rectify the issues and do the right thing.

I think you are absolutely right though, people should steer clear!

Don’t ever buy from @leurstyle
She is a professional scammer. All communication was via Instagram, super friendly, until I sent her my money via bank transfer and then she suddenly deleted all our conversations and is of course not replying to me and have never received my purchase. Stay away!!
I hear you!!! She was great via DM until she said payment is via a bank transfer. A red flag went up and I said HECK NO!!

I have bought from them recently.. I actually went to their physical store and ended up doing a bank transfer because for buying from website / credit card they charge 2% fee on top of your purchase. I picked up the item in store after I transfer so that was no issue. although I would prefer to pay with credit card because there is extra layer of protection.

The company itself is reputable, the owners are also in the news too. I have met the owners in person as well. If you want to buy from ig just keep a record / screenshot of every conversation and transaction.
Do you actually believe risking the purchase price of an expensive bag to avoid paying a 2% fee is a good idea? It is a small percentage of the bag's cost and provides you will full protection if it turns out to be a fake or a scam.
Even Vlad recommends not to use F&F here on tpf marketplace. Wiring is just as bad.

I believe this person purchased from Purse Affair which is an actual consignment store in Melbourne. Also when buying within Australia, we are covered by Australia's consumer laws. It is a lot less risky to purchase from within your own country as opposed to internationally. The really risky situation occurs when we purchase internationally by bank transfer or paypal F&F to some random person on IG.
