Hey everyone, has anyone bought from thepurseaffair on IG before?
I know they have a lifetime authenticity guarantee, however I’m eyeing up the Chanel 19 yellow tweed they have on their website but it seems like it is from the 21p collection yet the serial number starts with 30? Shouldn’t it be starting with 31 if that is from the 2021 collection..?
Just a bit wary, so wanting to check if anyone has had any experiences shopping with them. Thanks in advance!

I have bought from them recently.. I actually went to their physical store and ended up doing a bank transfer because for buying from website / credit card they charge 2% fee on top of your purchase. I picked up the item in store after I transfer so that was no issue. although I would prefer to pay with credit card because there is extra layer of protection.

The company itself is reputable, the owners are also in the news too. I have met the owners in person as well. If you want to buy from ig just keep a record / screenshot of every conversation and transaction.

I think I’m scared of buying from any seller on IG that isn’t willing to sell via PayPal Goods and Services especially if you’re willing to pay the extra 4% fee and when your billing address and credit card info match. It’s too risky to buy from someone you don’t know via zelle, venmo or PayPal ff. Thoughts?
I would feel the same especially if the seller does not have the reputation yet. For me when I buy off on instagram, I’d still meet them - if within the same city.

Thanks! I backed off of my transaction because it seemed fishy and the seller wouldn’t accept paypal.

Mostly it is because sellers are not running declared businesses. They are not paying taxes on their sales etc. The payments they are taking are personal payments (bank transfer, F&F) and sometimes they even ask for it to go to a different account as Paypal will flag their account with too many F&F payments. The problem with this is the buyer has no back-up and their payment is not protected at all.

In the case of The Designer Secret, she was even getting people to send money to her husband's account. Her bank became suspicious about money laundering with the amounts she was taking.

No bag is worth risking losing your money. These 'businesses' might have good intention to supply the goods but who knows when their banks or paypal might suddenly freeze all their funds and then the buyers are stuck trying to contact a seller who disappears.

It is absolutely too risky and not worth it! I only buy from dept stores or stand alone boutiques but anyone considering instagram sellers should be very careful. Bank transfers and "cash like" payments offer almost no protection or recourse if anything goes wrong.

I've done PayPal friends and family for smaller amounts before and because I had bought from that seller before. In general, I have a personal policy of only paying with credit card or PayPal goods and services. It's just too risky otherwise I think.
