Congrats on your DA Speedy! The patina is gorgeous and so even! :)

Thank you LVLaffair! That's what caught my eyes at Ebay. But honestly, there's a dark spot underneath on one of the handles. It's stubborn. I'll wait another month to baby wipe it. Nevertheless - I'm happy with her because of the patina. I should email her later to ask for tips how to get that even patina for my mono.:graucho:

It has become a hobby of mine to look for fantastic deals. I once bought a Mahina wallet in denim for $450 (NZD) with original receipt and never used it then sold it for $650. I recently scored a Raspail MM for $750NZD (retail is $2150) and the condition is near new with original receipt. I bought a Curieuse wallet for my mum which was already heat stamped (with the same initials as me!) for Mother's day which was also near new condition. A couple weeks ago, I bought another Curieuse wallet for myself for $450NZD (retail $1180NZD) to use when I travel.

I just thought although it is nice to buy brand new items from the store, but knowing that it has been broken into, I don't need to freak out about babying my items. With the price increase, I don't know if I can afford brand new pieces anymore. With buying prelove, I try to aim for at least 50% off the retail price, so if I ever to sell it I shouldn't lose money but would probably make some money towards my 'new' items. I do alot on eBay buying Coach, MJ and KS and resell them here, sometimes brand new, didn't like them, resell them and made money :) we don't have as much choices over here, and even Coach is like 3 times more expensive in the shops.

I was on a roll and just bought a Mahina L (a bag that I thought I would never own!) on eLady and had it delivered to my friend in Hong Kong, to save importing tax. I can't wait to get it in 3 weeks time, near new and saved over 60%. I was looking at a Citadine as well, but it was gone when I went back to look at it. I think eLady might become my next best friend :P

I got burned early on by a fake, they disappeared off ebay and there was nothing I could do about it. So if I were to get pre-loved, I'd do yoogi's or fashionphile. Depends on what it is. For things like a makeup bag or key pouch, something that will go inside my bag anyway I'm all about saving money, and sometimes things I like are those colors that aren't super popular, so I get a good deal. WIth bags, I bought pre-loved in good condition and I should have enjoyed the savings but they just didnt feel "mine". I didnt love them the way I did new bags. Besides I dont buy bags very often, so I want it to be a special experience, and the part about going to the store, trying them on, smelling the leather, etc, is part of it. I know some people got really good deals when I sold my bags because I take very good care of them and they were all in fabulous condition..

Saving 250 is worth it, if it's worth it to you. For instance, if you have something you'd rather do with that money, do that, and buy pre-loved. Most can tell if something's too good to be true on Ebay; a lot of times, the price is ridiculously low. A 250 savings is good for authentic if in excellent condition. If you'd get a bag that looks like that after a couple of months, why not? I've bought pre-loved LV twice, one is on its way, and having the packaging meant a lot to me for authentication purposes, but the first time I really got a great deal, saved about 100, and it was in excellent condition, so I couldn't have been happier. :)

Great topic. I have several brand new items and I love them of course...but depending on the item sometimes when I buy brand new I will at times find myself fixated for weeks on Ebay, Tradesy and other sites to see if I could have gotten a better deal.... How sick!

Truly, pomp and circumstance of new boxes, leather ribbons and dust bags aside.....I think I get slightly more of a thrill sometimes when I get an excellent AUTHENTIC pre-loved item at a wonderful price. I also enjoy sprucing up slightly my preloved bags with my Loving my bags products and I feel almost"giddy'" when I purchased something that looks almost as nice as brand new at half the price or even less....what's not to love about that? Who doesn't love a bargain?

I mean I'm not rich by Any stretch of the imagination but I have a decent career, my hubby and I never had kids just our fur babies so I can spend a few dollars on myself, I work hard and deserve it. BUT if I can find a nice preloved item I'm all over it! More bang for my buck!

Plus if you pay with PayPal you can get your money back if you end up with a fake. I did end up with a fake very early on back when I was an LV rookie, I'm still irritated by that because I didnt realize it until months later as my LV knowledge increased but since I only paid $220 or so....I let it go. I completely understand some people being reluctant and I think it all depends on the experiences you have,..a few negative preloved buys would surely turn you off but on the contrary a few positive experiences will hype you up! A new item from tie store is a thing of beauty to be sure, but I think if you Study, know the style well, and get the item authenticated if you have time, you're good. Wishing you all the best!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on your speedy! The patina is perfect!

I'm very iffy when it comes to buying pre-loved. I love the experience of brand new but with certain rare pieces. And even then they would have to be in prestige condition as when I sell mine it's always in fantastic babied condition so I expect the same when I buy used.

I've come to learn that luggage from lv I would rather buy pre loved as I've purchased brand new luggages and only to have them become beat up from traveling no matter how careful I am. Haha

Certain things like belts or shoes I just refuse to buy used as they conform to the original owner and become stretched out.

Scarves, jewelry and watches I don't have a problem buying used. Heck, For the price of my watch new I could have bought two used ones. HA!

Update
After getting your onions here, I decided to get a pre loved speedy DA
- I think the patina sold me

Here's what I experienced
- first time to win a bidding
- first time to use paypal, shop and ship
The seller wrote the description in deutsch
- only 5 photos available
- no response for additional pics requested
- no returns accepted
- shipping took 4 days
- it's half the price from brand new
- no clearance fees
- thank God it's authentic as confirmed here at TPF
- the bag was well taken care of , considering that's it's 6 years old
- no smell
- the brass still shining
- the handles - acceptable
- inner - one spot stain
- no lock
- with her initials hot stamped - I'm keeping it like that
Summary:
Same happiness like having a brand new one
So happy about her patina ( no need to wait for years)
So happy to have a different shade of canvas
So happy to save a lot and able to buy the balloon charm
I get good compliments from colleagues too
I feel carefree carrying her compared to my new speedy mono
Conclusion : buying a preloved is a hit or miss. But when you got it right, the joy of having it is exactly the same whether it's BN or PL

I agree with you completely! I have bought new many times and I'm not impressed with the in store experience 50% of the time. But I absolutely LOVE hunting for the perfect bag on ebay until I find it in great condition. Plus the bonus of saving a lot is just icing on the cake. And as you said, you're protected by PayPal AND eBay.

Last week, I saved $770 on an almost new bag I've been wanting for a year. And two months ago, I saved almost $1900 on a two year old, barely used bag. Can't beat that!

This is my first time buying pre-loved. My one and only love was bought in store and I do agree that I appreciate the experience, but if I can save several hundred and I am all for it. What advice do you all have for ebay stalking bags? Also, does anyone care to share a seller that was legit or share the ones that were not legit. I would appreciate the help!:D

I'm pretty rough on my bags (not meaning to be I just seem to scrape them etc) so I feel a bit more comfortable with pre-loved....I have some new so I still get that wonderful experience...

I also prefer my patina dark so tend o look for pre loved monogram! Hope this helps x

This is an old thread but I just bought a NF Monogram from Fashionphile that will be here tomorrow.

Been stalking LV for a new one for a couple of weeks and found this one with a $600 savings. It does have a stain on the inside and has Cherry lining so I am going to turn inside out and completely wash the interior. Also bought leather cleaner & conditioner for the vachetta (which has a beatufiul patina) so I am excited to revive this bag.

Wish me luck!!
