Buying a Pre-loved LV ? regrets?

+ 1. While $100 is not a lot of money in the land of luxury, it's $100 I can put toward another purchase.

Well said! Getting preloved is stretching out the money for more items to be purchased. I like that really. 😊
As long as you know the ins and outs- no one can outsmart you.
Good thing I'm only after the pochette now, my 3rd and last.
And I'm so thankful for TPF in helping members authenticate the items imagine how many requests they get per day.

Nothing beats the excitement in buying a brand new one but I also love the thrill of getting a bargain on pre-loved items. I have to admit though, it is risky as there are tons of fakes out there. I have been hit a lot during my first 2 years of buying pre-loved. I have always recovered my money back, its the cost of returning them that can prove costly. I have learned a lot since though.

I have recently acquired a 2011 Palermo GM which is in great condition with no patina even for £407 and it currently retails for £1110; also a 2013 District GM which is in mint condition, no evidence of use at all for £430 compared to £1030 from LV. My best bargain for this month though is a 2011 Omaha in Utah leather, very slight rubbing on the 2 front corners but considering I only paid £150, it is a steal since it retails for £1580 :D

Of course the cost of having them professionally authenticated is a little extra but I think considering the savings I have made, that outlay is acceptable. :D

I always look at the percentage I would be saving in comparison to the retail price. For instance, if I was only saving $250 on something like an Empreinte Speedy, which retails for around $3k, I would rather purchase new. But if I'm saving $250 on a Pochette NM, which retails for I think $500? I would go for it as long as it was in good enough condition for the price since I would be saving 50%.

+1. Well said 😊

Update
After getting your onions here, I decided to get a pre loved speedy DA
- I think the patina sold me

Here's what I experienced
- first time to win a bidding
- first time to use paypal, shop and ship
The seller wrote the description in deutsch
- only 5 photos available
- no response for additional pics requested
- no returns accepted
- shipping took 4 days
- it's half the price from brand new
- no clearance fees
- thank God it's authentic as confirmed here at TPF
- the bag was well taken care of , considering that's it's 6 years old
- no smell
- the brass still shining
- the handles - acceptable
- inner - one spot stain
- no lock
- with her initials hot stamped - I'm keeping it like that
Summary:
Same happiness like having a brand new one
So happy about her patina ( no need to wait for years)
So happy to have a different shade of canvas
So happy to save a lot and able to buy the balloon charm
I get good compliments from colleagues too
I feel carefree carrying her compared to my new speedy mono
Conclusion : buying a preloved is a hit or miss. But when you got it right, the joy of having it is exactly the same whether it's BN or PL

I'm so glad you had a positive experience. I feel the same way you do about the more carefree nature of preloved bags. When I got my Neverfull, I saved and saved. In that case, I wanted a new bag! I also prefer only new SLG. But I just got a 10 year old Speedy for my birthday, and it is so carefree! I literally don't have to worry about anything on it and the price was so good because of the age. I'm now in a market for an older Neverfull so that I can have the same carefree experience. I prefer preloved when you don't want it in perfect condition.
