Few months back I found a vert fonce 1993 kelly. It was a little dry as you can see the closeup, I decided to acquire it and try working on it as a project using renovateur and polishing and conditioning over 6months. It's did help improve the condition quite a bit.

What a Beauty! Congratulations! Do you feel that The Color is easy to combine with your Outfits?

Good evening,

I found a bag I like, i guess it is Box calf. Do you think it just needs conditioning? The corners Look bad, right? I would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks!

Isn't Noisette box amazing? I have a Bolide in it. The Tsako is a great bag!

Docride's leather care thread is a good resource (in Reference). It's very hard to tell from one picture but that bag has severe color loss at the corners, where the top layers of leather are worn away. This will never go away even if it's one layer of scuff - you would need to apply color restorer every so often - but the question is how deep the scuffing goes. Once you are close to a corner hole on a Kelly, it's pretty much over  It looks as though this bag may have a lot of dryness (sometimes fixable) and maybe cracking (not fixable). Wishing you the best H luck on your bag quest!! :hugs:

Thanks, QuelleFromage! Adore, that name, btw! I feel I have read Docride entire thread. I feel I want to sit with her watch her and listen to her all day. The Kelly is only 15 yrs old, no cracking leather. Just much use not much Care. I am going to look for pictures with restored corners. Take care!

Thanks for sharing...

Have you got `after` photos of the closeups?

Thanks

Yes here. The cracks are not possible to remove however it has softened a lot. Great for a project as this is a box bag I can use with a lot more courage without care of scratches and damages. It's also almost rain-proof now. Lol

I love the vert fonce before and after photos! It shows that with simple polishing, box recovers. seldom see box in this colour. Nice addition to your collection and congrats taking time to recondition the bag!

I think we all look more critically at our own possessions than others do.
Your Kelly looks terrific! I admire your restoration skills!
