For VAT refund, the item And receipt has to bear the name of the person taking the item out of the country. So the bag will have to be in your name if you want vAT refund. Unless your relative is a non EU resident. And he/ she has to take bag out of country within 3 months of purchase.

I will ask my cousins try at Berlin stores ( I think they have 2 Hermes stores, on in Kadewe adn another on on kudamm). Which one has better chance to get ? I read some where in this forum that you can get on waiting list but you have to have Germany address. Even I ask for my cousin to get her name on waiting list, when the bag is ready... I will pay for the bag...do i still get the VAT?

I moved to Berlin 4 years ago, and bought from both stores, Kadewe and Kudamm.
I placed on the waiting list for both stores, but i actually got 3 birkins and 1 kelly from Kudamm.
If you want a bag, never ask for tax refund. The kudamm store loves locals who spend money on Ready to wear and Jewelry. Before you get to the bags, you need to show up many times and build a long good relationship to your SA, just like everywhere in the world. :( But once you get the first bag, your second one will come fast! I got my second B three weeks after i placed an order.

i would like to share my horrified experience in Munich store . I asked for GP30 , lindy 26/30 along with a couple of accessories. I told her specifically that i do not want lindy in swift. she tried to sell me a GP36 zanizibar and keep repeating its a new color . i told her i dont want gp36 is too big too my liking .She came back with two boxes ,one canvas GP30 in Lime and one lindy 26 swift in cacao . i rejected the lindy immediately as i told her its swift. she raise her tone slightly" WHY DIDNT U TELL ME EARLIER ?". After that i took the GP30 and she immediately took out a lime kelly belt and say its matches my bag. I understand the SA will try to upsell other SLG which i already told her beforehand that i have a specific list of colors i want . She completely ignored me and continuously bring out things that i didnt not ask for or ridiculously huge for my size. i turned them down politely and started to show me attitude and rolling her eyes.

we went to the silk area which i told her i looking the brides de Gala twilly. she ignored and bring out the tray of twilly started force selling it to me. i told her my heart is set on the Brides de Gala series. she told me sold out but i can get the square scarf and fold them into twilly? .... which i find it is so ridiculous . i turn her down again and told her forget it why not just go help me find the KDT Xs in crocodile if youre have them. when she return , she come back with kelly dog crocodile which really upset me alot because she really just ignored my preference and hardsell me whatever she wants . But i still gave the kelly dog a try and went to check out how its like on the mirror. I took out my rolex watch and left it on the table assuming she will be there . she just left without tell me and with my handbag ,watch lying unattended . it really makes me very uncomfortable with her rude and pushy attitude . so i decided why not just get the bag and buy my SLG/accessories from other SA which are more sincere . obviously she wasn't too happy with it and it can totally be seen on her face .

To my horror, during the payment she said that i already bought GP30 before in germany and i was not allowed to purchase another one??? i told her it was quite sometime back and that GP30 was in Leather and this is canvas. totally different style . she insisted she cant sell and hurried me out of the store.

i had never been treated so harsh before in any H stores in any part of the world.
im sorry for the long post but i really need somewhere to rant :I
 

Sorry to read about your experience. When shopping abroad I am sometimes faced with a communication barrier and the SA will misinterpret my requests. She shouldn't have been so pushy but I love SAs who offer alternatives- especially at a store where I am not established. Usually it's a simple "No stock and good day" kind of interactions in Europe. Have you shopped at that boutique before?

we communicated in english which she can converse very fluently. Yah. but she shouldn't have shown me roll eyes face whenever i turn her down politely . Ya its my first visit to Munich store . The best part was i went back the store in one hour time because my sister wanted a wallet. I asked for the twilly that i was looking for again and guess what they have stocks which i dont understand why she dont want take it out for me. ;<

hahahaaaaa HAHAHAHAHAH And THIS, Ladies and Gentlemen is why I prefer bying a flightticket and go to the Hermés in the airport and won't bord, before I ever, ever again set one foot into that store that is literally located 5 minutes away from me - by feet. Long story short: I hate the Munich Hermès. It's the worst and believe me I gave them many many MANY shots. Never got something I really wanted, never was treated nicely, never got a nice SA, watched horrifying scenes how customers were treated (really bad treatment), had to explain what THEY sell (like in " yes, Hermès HAS that item, look it up on the website.." ... "ohhh really, they do...") saw extremely rude behaviour against their colleagues (unforgotten how I got my Kawaii bracelet,. the SAs had the poor young SA running around, grining and laughing about him, standing in a row, watching the scene like a movie, no hint, no help, I felt really repelled but I wanted that bracelet and knew that they had it in store... ) the list goes on... and on... and on. There was one SA who was really kind and sweet and knew her items, but she is gone now. Now it's a madhouse and my personal feeling is, that they do want tourists as their main clientele who buy whatever is available. Moving and chaning the whole service team except for one SA didn't help, too, things got worse.
