Bottega Veneta Jodie Bag

I just received my mini Jodie in the color ‘washed bliss’, a very pale pink. It’s one of my favorite colours. The base of my closet is black, nude, white and light pink, so fits with practically all of my clothes and naturally I couldn’t resist this color:girlsigh:.

I do feel like I kind of have to get used to a light colored bag worn by the leather as I had stopped buying light colored bags as I can’t stand them getting tarnished and I’m afraid of sweaty hands in warm weather. I do love the way it looks worn on the wrist.

I also feel like I well wear this bag more with the zipper open than closed.

I’m sorry for the bathrobe, but I’m pretty excited:love:.

So cute. Congrats!

The answers might be biased on this since I'm posting this in the BV thread...
I'm heading to Paris in May and can only pick up one bag, would you get a small jodie (fondant) or the celine triomphe in medium (black)??
Do small jodie owners find this bag versatile year round? Do you think the color fondant is versatile year round?
As both a BV and Celine fan, i think the Triomphe might be slightly more functional for traveling and for ease of day-to-night use. The small Jodie is pretty much the most comfortable bag I’ve ever owned, and I think Fondant is a versatile color. It can certainly be used year-round. However, I personally would not limit myself to shoulder or hand carry only while traveling. I like the security of a crossbody option.

But wait - are you talking about a bag you will buy in Paris? Not necessarily the bag you will exclusively use in Paris? If so, and you don’t have a small Jodie, then YES! Go for the Jodie. Especially if you already have some type of medium crossbody bag. Jodie is so wonderful and comfortable to wear.

Sorry for the confusion, I think I mis-read your question initially.

Let us know what you decide! :)

Thank you so much for your input!!
Sorry, my original post was not clear but yes I meant if I could only purchase one bag if I should get the jodie or the triomphe. I totally agree with you about the ease of travelling with a crossbody bag though.
Jodie is still my priority wishlist item when I go to Paris, I hope they have the fondant in stock :)

The Jodie and Triumph are polar opposites. To choose one depends on your predominant lifestyle. If you dress casually for work and don’t need a day-to-night bag then the Jodie is perfect, though not great for travel. It’s not a dressy bag. The Triumph is dressier so if you need to dress up for work and need day-to-night it would work well. It’s a little dressy for travel but works better than the Jodie because it can be worn cross-body.

Can you get this colour:

This is exactly my wishlist !!!

Perhaps a little easier but the problem is really the size and curvature of the opening. It’s rather restrictive to get into thus I rarely use the bag and on the rare occasions I do I’ll leave it unzipped unless in a crowded space. I really like a hobo type bag and if I bought another Jodie it would be the medium.

For those with the small Jodie, does it get easier to use the zipper over time? Right now, it’s very hard to get in and out of the bag.
I leave mine open unless moving through crowded spaces like @Gourmetgal said... but I do definitely think it gets easier as the leather softens. The bag at least gets malleable enough to where working the zipper doesn't take as much force. I put some stuff in mine to weigh it down a bit and hung it on a door knob (saw that tip in this thread somewhere, I believe!) for about a week and the leather softened up a lot even just from that. I found the bag easier and more pleasant to use after. Maybe something you could try.

Thank you! Have you enjoyed the bag otherwise? Is it worth keeping? Also, have you had issues with the leather wearing on the piping because of the zipper? Appreciate your input!!

no problem! yes, i really love mine!! although the style is one of my absolute favorites so i am definitely biased. it's soft and comfortable on the shoulder, easy to use and looks amazing with any outfit imo. i got the black so its very carefree! i couldn't recommend the small jodie enough, especially if you tend to use a larger bag.

i've only had mine since december and i also am concerned about the piping wear (posted here about the same thing too), but decided to follow the advice of some other tpfers here to not worry about it and just use the bag; if it starts to wear badly i'll probably take it to a cobbler and see if it can be touched up somehow. sometimes it helps to remember that good leather repair is available and always an option!

I suppose it’s a bit awkward as I have to take the bag off of my shoulder to unzip. I often leave it open, to be honest. It would take a lot to ruin my love for this bag (there is definitely another small Jodie in my future, it’s just so great!) so I am not hung up on the zipper.

Hobo style bags aren’t for everyone, I will say that. And they aren’t appropriate for some occasions. I like having different styles of bags though. It keeps things interesting. :)

As far as the wear to the leather along the zipper that people have mentioned here, I’m not seeing that on mine.

Does anyone know? The top one is a Mini Jodie.
I think the big style you're looking for is called the Veneta and is a vintage style... Don't believe it is sold anymore (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!) I would Google "Bottega Veneta vintage Veneta bag teal" and see what you get. The color of the mini Jodie is Blaster I believe?, in patent leather -- I highly doubt you'll find a patent version of the vintage, but you might be able to find a similar blue shade. I will say I have seen the teen size in Blaster before, but in the normal nappa leather, not in patent. I think it's currently being offered in suede.
