Everyone has different tastes, for example, personally, I don’t care for either color as they would never work with my style or wardrobe. If you love them both then you could think about your wardrobe colors unless the bag is just for a special occasion and you’re trying to coordinate with one outfit.
They are both beautiful colors. I couldn't say one is better than the other. If this is a gift for your wife, does she gravitate towards purples in her wardrobe also? I decided to see if the Bottega Veneta website has any blue/green or lavender bags in the small Jodie currently, and most of the colors are neutrals. Bottega Veneta seems to offer the most color selection in the mini and teen sizes.Is the Blaster better than this Violet?

What is up with that? There are more options on the Mini and Teen versions than the Small. They look too tiny on my wife who's 5'11.
A couple of thoughts - the mini and teen sizes may be their most popular sizes, so they offer more color options for those sizes. Also, it's a a fairly common preference for "pop of color" bags to be smaller, and daily carry bags to be larger and more neutral. However, sometimes I like a pop of color in a larger bag too. I own the small Jodie in Raisin (a dark purple), and think it's a great size. I also own the teen in Caramel, and can see how it would be too small for a tall person.
I think price point also has to do with popularity.
Yh the Mini is significantly cheaper.
It just looks funny on her, it's like the same size as my wallets lol.

I’ve always wanted the mini jodie but nervous about the longevity of the style, especially since it’s been popular for a few years so it might be outdated soon. Does anyone have any opinions about the mini vs teen jodie? I am looking at either travertine or new sauge. TIA!

If you love the mini then definitely consider pre-owned if you have concerns about the fad. There are tons of them on the resale sites.
I personally don't think the style is a fad any more than intrecciato is a fad or a clutch is a fad. It is SUPER popular now but the style elements won't look dated imo. Even the Daniel Lee BV hobos don't look dated on the street now, and they stopped making them like a decade ago right? I do think it's true though that pre-owned is a good way to go since the resale value isn't the best.
From what I've seen the Mini has the most offerings and my fav is Blaster. I wish they did the Blaster in small.
I went with the mini jodie online purchase although I haven't seen teen jodie in person either. I'm just nervous that teen would be awkward to carry
