A beautiful diamond on a beautiful lady! Congrats on your purchase!

I just wanted to add that if anyone wants to go with Tiffany's DBTY pendant, per my SA, they can put a little piece of metal of your choice to keep the culet from irritating your skin.

Cool!

It looks amazing! What cut did you pick for the diamond?

Well Blue nile calls it IDEAL, but from what I can tell, not all their "ideals" are actually "ideal" lol. I'm a picky diamond snob though.
The diamond I picked is H Vs2 Table 55% Depth Crown >34.5 Pavillion >40.6 Medium fluorescence.

Thanks for all the info. Super helpful. I have been following along because I just got a .27 DBTY, Tiffany - yellow gold this week. I love it but I was inspired by the way Giada Delaurentis layers her DBTY necklaces.

To keep the costs down I am considering ordering from BN. I understand there are definite differences but I think that would be ok? Still thinking about it. If I want to go larger it has to be BN or stay with Tiffany but go smaller.

Would also love to hear your opinions on how to space the next one. Lengthen the chain one inch or two? Keeping in mind that someday would love to have the 3rd.;)

Your necklace sounds beautiful!!! I'm jealous of everyone with a YG Tiffany's DBTY because I think they are sooo beautiful. I just can't do the YG thing on me. Have you posted pictures anywhere of it?

I don't know if I would layer a BN with a Tiffany's mostly because the chains are so different. If you want to go larger, Brian Gavin Diamonds is virtually identical to Tiffany's, and slightly more explensive than blue nile in the 0.25-0.40 range, but after that BGD is actually cheaper I think. Anyway, if you went with BGD, it would look identical to your Tiffany's which might look better together.
Here is a 0.44 really nice diamond :
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond/diamond-detail/?product_id=AGS-104047811022
$858 + the setting price $375 = $1233..thats pretty great I think!
Or for closer to the size you have 0.31:

$517 + $375 = $892 for a .31 H Vs2 hearts and arrows!

As for length, I'd go 2 inch longer chain (which will actually only hand 1 inch lower on your chest.
HTH!

Thanks SKphoto. That really does help. I didnt realize that lengthening the chain 2 inches makes it hang one inch longer on your chest. Good to know - that is the way to go then.

That is a great price for the BGD. The only thing that is holding me back a little is the fact that the Tiffany .12 was larger that the BGD .16. Still BGD at .44 would be about $400.00 less that my Tiffany .27.

I dont have any pictures of my necklace yet. I will try to get some today and figure our how to upload them.

I hope I explained the length thing right. If you have on a 16" and an 18" necklace, there will be 1 inch between them in the front. think if it this way, if you fold those two in half, the 16" hangs down 8" and the 18" hangs down 9"...1 inch in-between.

I realize the smaller BGD diamond size could worry someone, but I wouldn't let it in the bigger stones. If it helps, your 0.27 should have come with a certificate, if you'd like to post or pm me the diamonds measurements I could compare that for you (and everyone else) to see if there is a difference in actual measured size between diamonds at that carat weight.

Thanks for this! I def want one and don't know where to go. We looked a Tiffany's and they must have magic lights, the small diamonds look so pretty and huge!
I love the one you have and choosing the diamond makes it super special.

I must agree on the big part for Tiffany's though, my .19 looked larger than I expected. HOWEVER, the culet poking is not fun...I had no idea it would hurt so much. Granted it's a teeny tiny pain but it's def not a good feeling during scarf season.

I have never seen a 55% table, I wish I could see one in real life!

Skphoto- Thanks for the offer. I would be very interested. I bought my necklace online and it didnt come with a certificate. What I do know is that it is VS1 - G color.

I know Miss D just received one as a gift and there was no certificate.

Maybe I should call customer service. To me - my .27 looks about the same size as Miss D's.

I tried to take some pics this morning but they came out awful blurry. Cheap camera! I will try again later to see if I can get anything better. Thanks!

That's awesome! It looks exactly like the size of the .49 I got from Tiffany's. I still have it in the box actually, haven't had the heart to return it yet...

Okay, a fellow tPF'r pm'd me the measurements from her 0.23 Tiffany's DBTY, and it measures correct. Her SA told her Tiffany's was eliminating the 0.19ct DBTY (and it is gone from online). I have to wonder if the reason why is because at 0.14 the diamonds are cut to look larger, but once they go over 0.20 they start certifying them and the measurements are actually more "normal". Perhaps that was the problem with the 0.19. If they were cut to look larger, then they would look the same as a 0.23 (or larger) but for less money. And if they were cut how a 0.19 should be, then maybe they didn't look much larger than a 0.14 and they weren't selling. I don't know. All I know is my accurate 0.16 was smaller than Tiffany's 0.12 and I now know someone that has a certified Tiffany's 0.23 that measures right.
On a side note I realized a small advantage to T's and BGD's. As the diamond gets dirty you can basically swipe the whole diamond down while you are still wearing it, and your good to go. Mine got fifthy today with vicks vapor rub and hairspray and I realized it's going to take a bit more to clean it. Still worth it to not be poked though. :-)

Charl58, do you think you could try and measure your diamond? I know it will only be an estimate, but I'm still curious. I'd be curious to know how wide across the diamond is of what you can see (not including the bezel) and then the whole pendants width across. I know it's hard with millimeters being so small, but try and guess the 10ths too. ie 4.3mm ect ect

If my .19 was cut to look larger then I'm all for it! :)

However, I must add that even though it's not large, the sparkle on the little guy matches no other that I've seen. I hate to admit it but I think it's got MORE life than my 1ct e-ring.
