I got my first BA piece last week, actually got it pre-loved, (it was originally purchased from the boutique just in the last 10 months). I thought the color looked good or what it is supposed to look like, and I do hope it remains this same color. I didn't know about this being a translucent stone and I about had a panic attack when I was looking at it dangling in the light!:angel:
The color of yours is exceptional. And I love the translucency of the stone 🤗. Congratulations ! I have a small feeling you won’t be in your out of comfort zone too long with this one …

Don’t worry everyone. You all just know better now. If it’s already changed color then just replace the stones. If it hasn’t you now know how to properly care for your piece. You’ve just discovered it’s not indestructible, which tbh VCA told us, in writing. We have no excuses. Just like me showering with my turquoise and going “hmmmm…why does this look dull?” Hey Genius, you’ve been wearing it nonstop ignoring facts about turquoise. FAFO.

I absolutely love the magic pendant! I feel like the 60s/70s long necklace looks are having a moment right now too, so it feels very stylish, even with a white t shirt. I also like the more rounded shape of the magic too. I’m crushing hard on the magic agate it carnelian.
YES! And wow, I was really torn between this and wanting carnelian! I had a substantial credit with TheRealReal, so I really needed to go with what they had, and the carnelian one they had was older and didn’t have the extra jump ring, or all the other things, like VCA certificate, box, receipt, etc. Most of my VCA pieces I got at the VCA boutique, and had just gotten something this past FEB, and didn’t really “need” something else at this time, so I thought I’d do something different all the way around!!! 🙄😇💕

So I swim or shower or work out with my pieces but I do get sweaty in the humid summer heat. Now I'm concerned about whether that will affect mu carnelian pieces or not.

We might be getting off topic of blue agate color changing, so moderators can feel free to move this to the general discussion thread. I have worn some of my carnelian pieces for months in a row, running, in the hot shower; they look exactly the same. It has been the same with my onyx pieces and Chalcedony pieces. I have not worn any other stone pieces constantly like this, so I can’t really compare to other stones.

Thank you for the reassurance!

I bought my agate set, two ten motifs and a five motif years ago when it launched. It still looks the same, BUT it gets occasional wear.

To each his or her own but, DO NOT sleep or work out with ANY fine jewelry on — you are courting trouble. I stopped sleeping with jewelry on when a diamond tennis bracelet stretched out horribly after a few years of 24/7 wear.

My only exception is my Graff diamond and platinum wedding band. I will occasionally swim with that on.

I’m not deadlifting or squatting 200+pounds, or bench pressing, or Turkish get ups and with ANY jewelry on.

@etoupebirkin if you are squatting and DL-ing over 200 pounds, you *should* be wearing jewelry on: a CROWN.

I should clarify that just because I have not had an issue with any of my stone pieces being damaged does not mean that I believe that they are meant to be worn 24/7, just that each situation is different and they might be fine, or they might not. I have a handful of pieces like onyx 5 motif that I have decided I will wear into the ground and do not expect any residual value, but have received 10x the pleasure value in what I paid already in having a daily piece I can wear anywhere and everywhere. Other pieces are one of a kind and I baby them. Most others are somewhere in the middle (Carnelian, Chalcedony, Tigers Eye, Onyx and all-metal I will wear in the shower and running but not swimming and I do not use any perfumes, hair products or lotions; it is also cold here even in the summer so I do not sweat even when running). I think each person needs to evaluate the risk level for each piece (hardier or more delicate), what type of pristine condition vs 24/7 use balance they want to lean towards, and then go from there. I have worn antique diamond pieces lifting weights, but they DID break, so now I only wear them running (with gloves) just in case I happen to lose a stone. I do have a mental budget of a few thousand per year for repairs and I am ok with that spread though my whole collection; some years it is $10k in repairs and some years it is $0.

I’m not deadlifting or squatting 200 pounds with or without jewelry

I also purchased my BA in those early months when there were only the five and ten motifs (one bracelet and three necklaces, long story, and then SO earrings which cost more than if you got them today, argh). They also still look the same as before, tho I don’t wear them often. I am hoping that the earlier pieces might be more stable, tho hope is not a plan!

So reasonable lol I don't like to be seen anywhere without jewelry though 😭 it's like being completely naked in my book. I stopped wearing earrings to the gym recently because I purchased over the ear headphones and I hate it lol I don't think I've been out of my house without earrings since I was 6 months old.

I love that there are certain pieces that you just wear. And that the joy you derive from wearing them is more than the cost of maintaining them. That is a realistic and healthy way to buy and enjoy jewelry. If I am not willing to live with and pay for the wear I want to put into it, then it’s not for me. That is why I have very few stone pieces. And the ones it have I wear a lot.

I’m the same- feel so weird without earrings on, but ok without other jewelry. To stay on topic, I recall during Covid, there was someone here that posted about discoloration to their BA bracelet and I remember thinking it might have been so much use of hand sanitizers, so who knows, maybe since @allanrvj mentioned it is dyed/tinted (for lack of a better word) certain chemicals can discolor it. That’s a bummer, but I bet you no one notices but you. Maybe some batches were not treated properly to maintain the color? Who know, but you can eventually replace all the motifs (since they won’t do just one), so enjoy it until you want to get them replaced!
