Blue Agate Fading?

I haven't been in this forum for years, but I noticed the same with my BA bracelet , came here to see if anyone else has this problem and saw this thread. Mine was opaque, lapis blue when I bought it and now it has faded significantly and it has become more translucent. Mine was from the first batch release back in the day. I have worn it less than 10 times, a few hours at a time. Never with lotions and while showering, trully babied it, stored it in himitidy and temperature control safe.
It is disappointing.

Sorry to hear this Alena. I have worn mine more but I don’t think I had anything to do with the motifs fading since it is not all motifs. It is like every second of third motif. I wear tons of sunscreen but my Mala and lapis are fine. I also bought the first batch. I still love my pieces and will continue wearing them. I was just surprised by the fading as it was never mentioned these pieces would loose colour. Whereas my SA tried to get me to return my Mala bracelet after my husband bought it for. She claimed it was very fragile stone. Seems BA is more fragile than Mala.

Oh wow. What colour is it in daylight? Looks more like a muted onyx.
This is in daylight, against the wall on the last photo and against a piece of paper on the second one I the previous post.
This one , in this post is with flash.
The change is uniform but radical. I have never even got water on it. That's why I don't resize my bracelets so I can put them high when washing hands no matter if they are made of pure metal or other semi-prescious materials.

This is the colour my BA has turned into in rl since it is difficult to say from all the photos. My camera could not catch it well at all. At least it is uniform so there is no striking difference between the 5 motifs. It is like toned down lapis but a bit lighter and brighter than midnight blue.

I think like some others yours got darker over time. Can you take one held up to sunlight?

Do you happen to live in humid climate? If it's not exposure to water, my guess would be the humidity and/or how the stones interact with your body's chemistry. One of my friends own the 5 motif BA as well and she literally wear it 24/7 for 2 years now, stacked with the YG guilloche and her BA still look vibrant. She's in AZ so I wonder if the dry weather somehow helps to keep her BA looking relatively new. It's always interesting to see how temperamental the stones can be

No, I keep it in humidity controlled cupboard. . It hadn't had enough time to react with my body chemistry. I have worn it only a couple of times, 5 hours the most at a time. Most likely the dye hasn't been stabilised properly since they are all artificially dyed.

When you wear it in humid weather that may affect it too, not just while it’s in storage. Not saying it’s your fault but that it’s the nature of the stone.
I have no problem with my other pieces with carnelian, TE, WMOP, lapis and turquoise (the last two hand me downs from my mom) . Everything is in pristine condition. I care for everything in the same way. I'm not the only one that lives in humid climate. So I doubt it is the weather. At least the colour change is uniform. It would have been worse if all the motifs turned different tones.

I'm sorry that's truly upsetting
Do you plan to have the stones replaced?

I have not decided yet. Since it is not part of a set I might leave it like this for a while and see if it is going to discolour completely. Pity in a way. I always wanted to have a full set but I could never match a 10, 20, earrings, ring or watch to the original colour so I kept looking. Now it is too late. I never knew the colour is artificially enhanced. Good that you are so knowledgeable here🌺
