Oh no....I wanted the lambskin! I called NYC 3 days ago to ask for it and they didn't have it. Ended up buying caviar with GHW from Chestnut Hill. Thank you for the info. I am too late to order the lambskin now since I open my account on Thursday.

awww that's too bad! you're so lucky you were able to get the black caviar with ghw...i called chestnut hill on thursday and looks like you beat me to it LOL

wow i am so jealous! lucky you! what do you plan on doing with 2 jumbos? i feel like investing in jumbos is just as good as investing in gold in this economy haha

Exactly how I feel about investing in Chanel. Actually the other one is for my girl friend. She wanted the medium but they did not have any in medium so she jumped on the bandwagon and decided to switch to Jumbo eventhough it was not her first choice. BTW, totally off topic, do you know which departmental store offer this kind of discount other than Bloomingdale's?

I am not too sure, but I think Saks does 10% for new card holders...I would double check on this though. I may have to do that for my next Chanel purchase lol I do know that Nordstrom is doing triple points (6 points for every $1 spent) for their card and it starts on the 14th, but you can presale for it now, and it definitely includes Chanel. I presold something yesterday and for every 2000 points you get a $20 Nordstrom note that can be used on anything in the store, including another Chanel purchase.

I did the math on this Nordstrom before and it was nothing much compare to the Bloomingdale's 20%. Bloomingdale's seem to offer better reward points. Their double and triple rewards are actually 6% and 9% whereas Nordstrom double and triple points are actually only 4% and 6%.

Let's say you spend $4000 on a Chanel with Nordstrom during triple points, you only get $240 Nordstrom note. With Bloomindale's you could get $360.

Oh, well during triple points, I actually get 10 points per dollar as opposed to the normal 6 since I'm now a Level 2 cardholder. With that, I am saving about 10% and it's a plus for me personally because there is no Bloomingdale's near me and I shop regularly at Nordstrom for other items. So, if you're a regular shopper at Nordstrom, it may not be a bad idea and the customer service is excellent as well.

But, I do agree with you that the Bloomies is by far the best because it's basically cash back. It just stinks though that you can only take advantage of the 20% for 2 days and that you have to be a new cardholder and whatever item you're looking for, may or may not be in stock when the 20% promotion comes around (which I hear is twice a year). I have yet to try the Saks 10%, but I may have to try it when considering another Chanel purchase. I also think that Neiman Marcus does something as well called a gift card event but I know that sometimes it includes Chanel and sometimes it doesn't.

Thank you for all this information. I heard about Saks 10%. Did not know about the Neiman Marcus gift card event. How many perfect do you get from this gift card event if you don't mind me asking.

I wanted to clarify something with you also. You said you get 10 points during triple points event? Are you sure about this? I was looking at Nordstrom website and you only get 10 points during private shopping holiday party once a year after Thanksgiving and not just any triple points event. And you don't always get what you want as well as you can only order whatever they have in stock.

Neiman Marcus has something called the Better Together event and it's a tiered event where the amount of the gift card depends on how much you spend. IF Chanel is included at all in this event, you get a $300 gift card for spending $2000 or more and you can double the amount of your gift card if you purchase from handbags/shoes AND women's apparel. The $300/$600 is the maximum amount you can get on a gift card though. So, obviously, the savings is better if the bag you want to buy is about $2000 (15% savings with the $300 GC). I know there are also other NM gift card events but the amounts aren't as much as they are for the Better Together event.

And also, going back to the Saks card, there are triple point opportunities so if you can get the Saks card during triple points and get the bag you want, it's not a bad deal either. Saks triple points works identical to Nordstroms where it's 6 points per dollar and you get your rewards on a gift card (for every 2000 points, you get $20). So, for example, take the jumbo that is $4300... after you get 10% off ($430) and triple points ($240 gift card), it's a rough savings of about 15%.

Oh yes, my mistake. I actually meant to say that during the private shopping event I get 10 points per dollar. I apologize I didn't distinguish triple points and the private shopping event. Thanks for catching that for me! =)

And yes, you are right that you may not get what you want, but a very kind SA that I know says that if the bag I want is available before the private shopping event or triple points, you can buy it, and then they will return it for you and you can buy it back when the event comes around since Nordstrom has a very open ended return policy.

Agree with your last paragraph. You could always do that too as I was told by my SA at Nordstrom. But given all this math that we have been doing, there is really nothing compare to Bloomingdale's new account discount if we just consider the percentage discount (and not whether you get what you want).

And I guess opening a new Saks account will be the next best thing if you only want to get what you want with the best discount (i.e. 10%).

NM and Nordstrom gift card/reward points etc just aren't as good as Bloomie/Saks 20%/10% cash back. Well if only Nordstrom didn't put a 10% cap during the private party event that would be nice!!

I think I hit the jackpot when I called Chestnut. I actually ordered 2! Was planning to order 3 caviar with GHW but the 3rd was not "brand new" so I didn't buy it.

omgosh YAY!!! I got a call today from Chestnut Hill and a jumbo caviar with GHW was available! I snatched that one up quickly and was so happy it was 20% off! Such as relief because I really thought I was going to miss out on getting 20% off the jumbo and I had settled for another bag. ahhh so happy!!!

Oh you did?? Congratulations! So did you return the previous bag you placed order?
