I just encountered the same problem yesterday. Seriously its just ridiculous! First, they sy they can't up the amount, and they don't tell your limit...which I thought was dumb... My SA went through the process three times, trying to help me up the limit so I can get the jumbo and woc. At the end, they couldn't. So sad...even with paying with another card, they would only allow the woc to work..not the jumbo. Because, they have to place 30% of the purchase on the bloomies card, but with a jumbo and woc, the amount of 30%is alredy over the limit. So, I gave up on the jumbo...even though I wanted it soooooo badly.
Bloomies REALLY need to change their system....especially the card AND the automative operator.

^ the discount will show on the credit cArd bill..not the receipt...right!?
I did ts yesterday too and it was a long painful process..lmao.took a 30 minute hold to open an account online and verify id...and then had to call back again to up limit..lol.they kind of sucked at it

I'm in banking, and I can definitely say that banks are tightening up on how much they are willing to approve people for on credit cards...even with good credit, it's very tough to get a decent credit line anymore. Some card issuers have even temporarily frozen all credit line increases due to the state of the economy. :tdown:

Bagsdreamer, Once approved, you will get the 15% discount on almost anything you purchase at the store or online and that discount is valid for 2 days starting the first day you opened the account. Which Chanel bag are you looking to purchase?

fraulienny, actually i haven't really decided what to buy. I may be going on a work trip in Boston in May so will grab the opportunity to buy some stuff. May want to get some classic CJs, timeless clutch and depending what is available there and then. Where are you located? but then i just discovered the inner lining of my double flap peeling after 1 month so abit fearful not too if I should get more bags.

Bagsdreamer, I've heard the quality of the Chanel handbag is not as good anymore. As a matter of fact, just a few days ago I went to Chanel in Bloomies (NYC) and while looking at a maxi flap, I noticed some loose stitches on the chain- it was horrible! I pointed it out to the SA and she was in shock to see such a horrible stitching. I thought to myself, $4000 and it's already falling apart? So If I were you, I definitely would bring back the bag to Chanel and have them address the peeling issue. You might have purchased a defective bag and they should replace it.

As for me, I did purchase my first Chanel that day. Not the flap, but the GST tote in Black with GHW. I'm patiently waiting for it to arrive in the mail sometime next week as the GST in GHW was not in stock that day. I am excited to receive my first Chanel and at the same time a bit nervous about the quality issue. So crossing my fingers....

Hi, my sister is planning to open a bloomingdales card when she turns 18(Not much credit yet, yes she's has social security), do you know approximatively how much her limit will be? $500? She wants to get a WOC which is $1595. If her bloomingdales card allow 500, will she be able to get the discount and pay the rest with cash or on a credit card/debit card? What is this 30% thing everything is talking about? The discount she will get when she open the card is 15% as of today.

Hmm so I want buy my first jumbo. Just called a SA and NYC blooming dale. She discouraged me from waiting for the 20% promotion... What do u guys think? Is she just lazy ? She said if the 20% deal happens to fall on a day when they are out of stock on the purse I want I can't buy it if it' s not in their system .... Is this true? Any help is appreciated :)

She is baiscally telling you the truth. Jumbo is one of the most popular Chanel bags. When promotion is on, they'r the first to run out.

But,... there is one way to do it, and not 100% ganrenteeed. It works best if you know when is next 20% off. Call bloomingdale and ask them to put you on wait list for Jumbo. When it comes avaiable, you ask SA to hold for you by charging your cc. During the event, you can do return and repurchase with bloomi's credit card.

Remember, this won't work if:
1. 20% promotion event is after 3months of your first purchase. Bloomi only allow 90 days return.

2. After you first purchase the bag with your regular cc, price's raised before the 20% event.

Good luck. Last, speak to your SA about your real intention, they can help you better.
