Beware: Best faked bags in the market

I know they have a good reputation. I've just noticed that they'll have multiples of the same bag that are brand new and it strikes me as odd. For example, they currently show three brand new/giftable Dior book totes in the same print ranging from $3095-$3495. Am I to believe that three people at the same time decided to sell the same new bag to them? Or is it that people buy bags thinking they can make a profit on in demand bags by selling them to FP? As a buyer it makes me somewhat uneasy.
I do believe that if someone is lucky enough to find a discounted luxury bag, they may think they will make a tidy profit by reselling. I found a great Valentino bag through Nordstrom (nearly 50% off), but had to return because it was missing it’s box and cards. Have you ever checked out LuxuryPromise? They sell preloved and quite a few brand new bags (lots of Hermes). They have live shows a few times a day during the week. I’m obsessed!

I have seen resellers at the outlets purchasing up bulk items and doing live IG posts inside the stores. Prada, Dior, YSL and maybe Gucci from what I observed if resellers are purchasing its not too obvious out on the selling floor.
Burberry? I caught the resellers going up in the stockrooms and cabinets behind the cash registers purchasing up the whole damn store. So on some ps IG feeds I can tell that they are purchasing from outlets.

I don't live near any luxury outlets, but years ago I lived near Coach and Dooney and Bourke outlets that sold the original retail merchandise, not made for outlet. They had daily purchase limits for that reason. The internet has made it easier and more lucrative to be a reseller.

I'm friends with a manager at a Nordstromrack. He personally told me he took merchandise away from a reseller and had her and her friends banned from this store. I pulled up the resellers ig account and showed him her picture and I'm sure I came across this person early mornings when this Rack or Tjmaxx opened up. I was told when I posted pictures of finds in the early mornings this reseller was coming behind me buying up all the inventory. Let's just say I stopped doing this.

People will always find a way to make a buck.

“Made for outlet” makes me mad . That is not the topic of this thread but it takes all the fun out of outlet shopping.

Back to faked bags….I’m 100% sure I saw a fake Celine tote on clearance at a department outlet store. It was marked to about $1k. The leather was very thin and stiff. The interior was unlike the authentic Celine interior, just very cheap looking. It was so bad. I thought about telling someone at the store but didn’t. They don’t have any reason to believe me. I wonder what happened to that bag.

I think, if one was to buy secondhand, it’s best to have an authentic bag on hand (either the same style or same brand, at least) so that one can compare the hand feel of the leather (is it as luxurious), compare the interior hand feel, compare the texture, the smell, etc.

someone who had never owned a Celine bag or even handled one before wouldn’t know that bag was fake. I hope it got removed from the shelf and destroyed.:hrmm:

This is old news fake designer bags have been returned back to regular retail stores for years now. There's plenty of horror stores on this platform where people have purchased online returned fake designer bags that was swapped out. The distribution center just scan the barcode and put the merchandise back into inventory there's no checking the merchandise to see if it's a fake.
I wouldn't trust purchasing from online LV because of an extremely high amount of return merchandise which again I saw from this platform.

A year or two ago FP had a bunch of new book totes with a Stars and Stripes motif. I recall reading, probably here, someone's suggestion that they may have come from the Dior outlet at Woodbury Commons in NY, the only Dior outlet in North America. That made perfect sense.
I actually bought one of those from FP recently; they had so many I had the luxury of waiting til they got marked down.

Some in this thread sound like they want to buy the "good" fakes.
Well, there are plenty of ex-TPF'ers in the Reddit replica community. I think that's like the most common story if you read people's messages about how they got into replica bags: they frequented this forum and bought authentic bags until they realized they could get the same craftsmanship for wayyyy less by buying replicas.

The whole replica business is of course illegal, which should be enough for most people to stay away from it. But the super fakes are a good reminder for anyone who's still naively under the impression that some of these premium designer bags are actually worth the ridiculous prices in terms of merely materials and craftsmanship. Of course they're not; you're paying for the brand, the luxurious experience, the illusion and the status.

There’s another subreddit for replica watches, and a lot of the members mention that they’d buy the real deal, but the brands are manufacturing scarcity and everything is either a multi-year wait list or paying 3-4x the retail price to a reseller.

The Tiffany blue Rolex is a common example - it’s their entry level watch yet you can’t buy one from any dealers and resellers are charging $25k+ for a $5k watch. It’s easy to see how this would push people into the replica market.

Fascinating thread.
The chipped items are still safe, no?

The “chipped” items are the easiest to fake per Zeko’s latest posts. They’re not microchips. It’s just a metal plate. That entire name has got to go - it’s so misleading. Zeko won’t even authenticate via photos anymore for “microchipped” items, it has to be in house…
