Best Jewelry Decisions You've Ever Made?

Great thread!

- One of my best jewelry decisions so far is buying a Cartier Love bracelet and a two tone small Cartier Ballon Blue watch last year.
I truly enjoy them and I even got used to wear something 24/7. Now I sometimes even smile when I wake up and see my Love sitting on my wrist :p.

- Buying pearls were also good jewelry decisions for me. They are classic, timeless and elegant.

- I also really love my Hermès black Collier de Chien bracelet with palladium hardware.
Have worn it many times already and always enjoy wearing it.

- Buying less custom jewelry. I've spent quite a lot on custom jewelry (especially Chanel), while I could have some other nice pieces of real jewelry for that amount of money.

Platinum and diamond stud earrings 0.4cts. Small, but very good quality (g, vs1) stones , in a 4 claw setting. Bought for me by DH, as I don't like large earrings on myself. I only remove them to clean them. I always feel that these little beauties complement every outfit. I have owned them for over ten years and although I love larger diamond studs on others people, I have never wanted to upgrade my own. My rings on the other hand..........

Best purchases:

- Getting diamond studs in college that have been upgraded!
- Buying a VVS emerald cut ring for $5,000 of appraisal value.
- My husband buying me a Yurman cable bracelet 4 years ago before the price increased by $300! What the heck! :-)

~Taking the time to properly clean and store my silver and gold jewelry after each use. It still looks great and I'll enjoy many years with it, even pass it down to my kids.

~Purchasing preloved Tiffany & Co. Silver. I was able to get some excellent condition pieces at way below retail price. Now I only buy at retail if I can't find it preloved.

~Resetting my original yellow gold ering to a custom white gold setting that matches my white gold and diamond anniversary ring.

~Getting matching wedding bands with my husband. I really love that we have the same ring!

~Selling off old/unwanted/unused jewelry to make room and $$ for new pieces I really want.

:woohoo:

Isn't it great when you know exactly what you want and ... eventually you get it, not to be disappointed

1. Having my mother as my mother as she's a jewellery expert, knows all the trade, who's who and what's what. My jewellery education started very young

2. Trusting myself from a young age and buying quirky things that made me happy, like my RELAX watch that tells the time by a naked women spinning around the clock dial

3. Buying very good French Art Deco pieces before I couldn't afford to

4 Finding, lusting over and eventually buying Theo Fennell, Elizabeth Gage = STATEMENT!

5. Buying vintage watches. Better and more beautiful for less

6. Buying Gucci gold at what is now more than half price just a few years ago (make that relived and overjoyed)

7. Happy with my fine, silver and costume. I don't mind what it's made of so long as it looks great, isn't uncomfortable and doesn't give me rash.

8. Selling a beautiful tension-set, pear-cut diamond. I loved it but I couldn't believe the stone wouldn't pop out so never wore it

9. Spending virtually all my to-live money on fabulous antique stuff when a student, it was worth eating packet noodles for. Again, unrepeatable now prices have rocketed.

10. Buying myself a gold ID bracelet before graduating and having it engraved with my new 'status' and date only when I eventually completed. It's something that my father might have done for me had he been alive to see it.

^^ Re: 10) -- I'm kind of doing the same thing. I have a gold bracelet that I'm waiting to wear until I finish. Not allowed to even peek at the wrapping until then!

Excellent, great minds think alike

I found it a great incentive and I hope you will too saligator

No peeking now ;)

1. Having expensive pieces made by a jewellery designer instead of buying from stores.
2. Having unworn pieces made into something I would wear.
3. Dipping y/g pieces that belonged to my late mother so they suit my other jewellery and now I enjoy wearing them
4. Having a classic collection of pieces that I wear all the time. The cost per wear makes them great value!

Did you have them dipped in white gold?
