I think the Cannes did come in black but I missed out, maybe they sold out quick. I also saw two shades of brown at the time but I bet there were a few bespokes done in other colours.

I'm a bit confused because I thought they only had brown snakeprint totes on the site not the grey. Did you manage to get one not listed, if you did you're very lucky [emoji6]

I had a wtm midi in black crash and I just gave it to my sister because at the time I felt it was too shiny. My appreciation of leather has matured since then lol.

I am sorry I confused everyone! I bought the brown velvet matte snakeprint tote from the website stock. It's just it looked grey and i was overexcited:p
I don't care what colour it is i just love it. I can't wait to open the box!!!!!

Re Cannes tote-

Hi ladies, I emailed Janelle and asked about the leather on Cannes, as I was debating but didn't want 2 bags ( Paris and .. ) in same leather. This is what she sent me back:

The leather on the Cannes is different. The Paris tote has vegetable tanned leather while the Cannes is a vachetta leather. Aimee actually has the chocolate Cannes midi. She really likes it as an everyday bag. She has mentioned that it softens a bit over time and that it has stood up quite well to regular use. She also noticed that the leather took on a hint of a sheen as it aged-really lovely. "

Hope this helps I'm still debating the full size Cannes, wonder if it will feel similar worn to a TME as the handles and style is similar - apart from front zipper detail?

I might be wrong but I think vachetta leather can't be cleaned because it's untreated? So if you were to spill anything on it would it stain I wonder.

Gosh thanks hasn't thought of that..? I have similar leather to that in my Collection- a couple of Hermes bags with Barenia trim ( which is untreated and develops a patina after time, but also rubbish in the rain, gets waterspots etc.. Also I have a couple of monogram LVs with the vachetta trim, you can use Profucts like Blackrocks or Oberknaufs to waterproof the untreated leather and make it more rain resistant, but then it won't develop the patina etc.. I guess it depends if yiu mind your leather "worn in" or pristine. I'm still debating the Cannes, but as I already have 2 black BEs and the choc Paris may wait to see if sthg comes up preloved on Bonanza instead.. ??

So I got my Cannes today and it's gorgeous
However I didn't know this about the leather and now I am worried.
Are you ladies saying I can't get it wet? This is nearly impossible since i live in England :p
Should I treat the bag. I absolutely love the leather colour and the style is just beautiful and better than I expected.

I am not good at understanding the durability of different types of leather so can I ask - what is chevre like?

Hi I'm in England too and we are expecting rain tomorrow I think [emoji3]

I didn't know the Cannes was vachetta and don't know much about it except what I might have stumbled across on this forum. I thought it was like the black matte I had. I am sure Prada will know more.

The chèvre leather is more delicate. I scuffed and dirtied mine on day 1 but it's my fault because I should have sprayed it first. It looks fine now it's cleaned up a bit and it's now had 3 costs of spray.

Here's a link with some info on the BE chèvre http://forum.purseblog.com/belen-echandia/chevre-vs-calf-leather-731677.html
