I did not receive this email about Belen Echandia closing. Could someone post it or at least provide the details. When is she closing or is it already closed? If so, what was the closing date.

Really sorry to hear about BE closing; her bags were so great. I have made quite a few purchases over the years mainly the large Stroke Me in Apple Green, Dark Grey, Petrol Blue and Wine along with an Angel purse in Apple Green and Purple. Unfortunately, as sad as it is that the company is closing, I find myself at a turning point too. I retired in April and find it necessary to part with some of my designer bags through auctions.

Knowing that I have rare bags from BE along with my only Prada Fairy clutch, it was a struggle to post the auctions. I have had to downsize my Winstanley Cat collection too and I am a major cat lover. Retirement changes things in so many ways and I just can't justify holding on to these special bags or cats any longer. I know I will regret my decision but it's just the start, my Brighton jewelry will be targeted next and it's only the beginning.

Again, really sad about BE and I'm really sad about my retirement purge. I was hoping someone would post or send me the BE email but sadly no response. Oh well.

Hi Feline53

I was going to reply to your first post but found I had deleted the original email from BE - however I think it must have gone to their mailing list sometime in April as I can see I placed my first order towards the end of April. just a few totes still available on their website I think.

As you know, there hadn't been anything new on the BE site for ages, and I understand Jackie was trying to sell the brand but clearly this didn't happen. Maybe it was better so - it would have been awful if the BE brand had reappeared on mass produced bags from China. Anyway, some of us got lovely bags at reduced prices and some people got bags with faults that rather soured the experience (see this forum).

I am so sorry to hear that you have to think of selling some of your bag collection. Please do try to keep one or two favourites at least. We all need a little luxury sometimes.

You might not know that Marco Massaccesi (who made the BE bags) now has his own brand. And they are much cheaper than BE! Look him up on facebook and in purseforum. There's a very active group of fans including ex-Belenistas, so even if you don't buy a bag, you can keep in touch and get your handbag fix vicariously.

Have to go now, but do join in - and I wish you all the best.

Hi! Where would I find the thread about Marco Massaccesi? I always seem to show up late to the party, as I JUST discovered BE & now it is no more. :(

Hi Ladies, long time no post but have read this thread with interest and a little sadness. I did not get the email but as others have said the end for BE has been on the cards for some time. I used to love my BEs but not worn them for a while. I have gone in the opposite direction and my latest purchases are Kipling nylon bags lol! Mind you I have not carried my Mulberry bags lately either.

I still have a few TMEs, Hold Me's, Charm Me, maybe others. Will haveto dig them out again. I do tend to use the gorgeous mottled gold TMEI got off ebay from Prada (I think) around Christmas time. I absolutely love the chewy leather.

Have looked on the BE website, some great bargains in the Paris Tote butit's not really my sort of bag.

I'm so sad to see they have closed, as I just recently discovered them! I was able to snag a Rock Me from a lovely TPFer, and of course I'm in love with the leather. I really like the little details on these bags. Hopefully I'll be able to hunt some down. I really liked the idea of being able to customize your own bag too.
