So I got my Cannes today and it's gorgeous
However I didn't know this about the leather and now I am worried.
Are you ladies saying I can't get it wet? This is nearly impossible since i live in England :p
Should I treat the bag. I absolutely love the leather colour and the style is just beautiful and better than I expected.

I am not good at understanding the durability of different types of leather so can I ask - what is chevre like?

Hi firstly congrats on your new lovely Cannes... I would check with JAckie first, most Vachetta as I know it is untreated and designed to develop patina with age/use. I know you can protect it from rain with say something like Collonil Waterstop, which is a spray that Mulberry recommend for their bags. That will eliminate water spots in the rain, but it will also hinder the patina process in the leather ( if that's what you are after,,?). I would certainly check with Jackie before using any product on your bag. My LVs are daily workhorse bags so I just use saddle soap On the vachetta trim to keep it clean and remove grime. I've attached a pic of my vintage Hermes Barenia Evelyn so yiu can see how the patina develops after 20 or so years!!! My Hermes Jypsiere in the same leather is my best bag, so never gets taken out in the rain on the basis it's worth more than my car, LOL,

The Chevre leather like BE use in the Covet Me etc I'd just spray with Collonil before use should be fine in a light shower but avoid getting it in a complete downpour,
Hope this helps a little but as I said please do err on the side of caution and ask Jackie to see what she recommends with your Cannes....

THanks Ladies you are so helpful. That has made me feel better. I think I will spray the Cannes as i am more interested in protecting it's fresh out of the box beauty than patina.
It's very strange but in my head I assumed the veg tanned leather would be more porous and prone to patina. I feel much more educated now!
I never had a bag in the old BE matte brown, but I do have a beautiful TME in pebbled brown leather which is slightly glossy. I am sure that was an eBay purchase from some lovely person on here, because I am not sure that was ever a stock bag. I also have an old skool tan Im Yours which is rustic looking - so natural and beautiful. And I have a chesnut shimmer Enchant Me and a couple of choco crash lovelies too. So I have fifty shades of brown bags and clearly know nothing about what I have bought LOL

And Big Cherry's link has made me realise how much I miss lovely Larke and her epic collection of BEs!
She is such a fabulous lady, i bought beautiful Gustto and Rebecaa Minkoff bags off her before and she knows a good bag when she sees one!!!

I think I might chance a Chevre bag. I dont want to email back and forth and it sells out when I have my heart set on it.

There is so much knowledge in this forum. It would be great if we could do some kind of BE legacy project together, perhaps all doing lists of what we own/used to own like Prada and also filling up all the threads suzi created for us which were a library of bags and leather colours and modelling pics!

BTW Prada I love your LV! I had to google the Hermes and OH MY it's gorgeous. I think that's the nicest Hermes bag I have ever seen. I think it's probably worth more than my car too! LOL
My grandad used to be a big fan of saddle soap and also something you get in England called Dubbin, but it always seemed to make boots a bit waxy. I will try the Collonil spray you all recommended.

I'm starting to wonder if the bags showing as still available online will be marked down any further......

That's just wishful thinking,"" I keep looking at the vermillion NY tote,I'd take the plunge but I'm so OCD I absolutally hate corner wear on any of my bags - it's why I'm boring and tend to have black/brown bags so I can touch up corners with Tarrago dye if required... Love the idea of vermillion but am a bit worried about scuffed corners, dark denim transfer etc... That's why I sold my Vermillion 30cm birkin cos I hated the idea of it getting scuffed! And will s.o PLEASE buy the Cannes f/S before I do???

Ok I was wrong! Checked the BE site today and the Cannes Midi was down to £180 ( was £260 I think originally, which was more expensive than the full size, which was £210. ) snagged the midi, as I measured up the full size and it seems big... Plus the midis was now the cheaper of the two... So am just waiting for my shipping to be sorted as I need it sending Royal Mail again rather then courier...

Does anyone know how heavy the midi is? Seem to remember reading somewhere it was around 960g but no details on BE site....I'm hoping packed it will be under 2 kg so I won't have to pay any extra postage... I'm excited, Anyone else snag anything. I saw the anthra clutch had gone???

Well done getting the Cannes for £180! I've seen this bag and it is totally gorgeous, so comfortable on the shoulder. I think you'll love this style. I don't wear brown but I kept looking at it and wondering if maybe I could wear it so I'm pleased you snagged it lol.

The black Rio is gone, I had one but sold it because it was a bit big for me. I'm glad it's gone because I kept thinking of that gorgeous leather and that maybe it wasn't too big after all. [emoji12]

I can't keep my eyes off the purple Madrid now. I have the orange one and practically ruined it in one day. But I managed to clean it up somewhat and think I need a purple one.

How did you ruin your orange one?? The purple is nice, keep thinking it's gorgeous but I don't do mini bags - the smallest day bag I have is an LV speedy 25, and that's when I'm being minimalist with what I carry. Both my Rock Me and my Hermes Jypsiere ( when I use it) are huge - seriously you could take out someone's eye with either of those bags, knock small children over and /or make your Chiropractor have a seizure with the weight of bag plus combined gumph I lug around on a daily basis!!

Prada, I have a Covet Me Mini in the vermillion chevre. It is very pretty but very delicate. I wore mine once and the leather has rubbed a bit on the back where it rubbed against my clothes. I found that it marks very easily - scuffs etc that are not as easy to rub out as with a matte leather. I still have it though because it is gorgeous (and I picked it up pretty much brand new on eBay for £80).

Ooh lucky you! I had a tomato red balenciaga Twiggy once in the old Chevre leathe and tho I loved that bag and took good care of it corners still ended up grubby, sad eh?

I looked at that too. Only thing that stopped me is the fact it was a bit of an unstructured bag and I already have Hug Me coming plus my Covet Me. Otherwise I'd have had it.... you go girl!

Strange that there are so many tote bags left , also did anyone buy a Rio, there's tonnes left??
Despite trying to convince myself I really don't need a large bag, I have given in and ordered a Rio in the Oak matt. Can't bear to think that if I don't, I might never have another chance to buy a BE - hardly ever see them on ebay here in the UK these days.
