So I got my Cannes today and it's gorgeous
However I didn't know this about the leather and now I am worried.
Are you ladies saying I can't get it wet? This is nearly impossible since i live in England
Should I treat the bag. I absolutely love the leather colour and the style is just beautiful and better than I expected.
I am not good at understanding the durability of different types of leather so can I ask - what is chevre like?
Hi firstly congrats on your new lovely Cannes... I would check with JAckie first, most Vachetta as I know it is untreated and designed to develop patina with age/use. I know you can protect it from rain with say something like Collonil Waterstop, which is a spray that Mulberry recommend for their bags. That will eliminate water spots in the rain, but it will also hinder the patina process in the leather ( if that's what you are after,,?). I would certainly check with Jackie before using any product on your bag. My LVs are daily workhorse bags so I just use saddle soap On the vachetta trim to keep it clean and remove grime. I've attached a pic of my vintage Hermes Barenia Evelyn so yiu can see how the patina develops after 20 or so years!!! My Hermes Jypsiere in the same leather is my best bag, so never gets taken out in the rain on the basis it's worth more than my car, LOL,
The Chevre leather like BE use in the Covet Me etc I'd just spray with Collonil before use should be fine in a light shower but avoid getting it in a complete downpour,
Hope this helps a little but as I said please do err on the side of caution and ask Jackie to see what she recommends with your Cannes....
