Being Banned From Coach Stores - Did You Read?

i just can't understand why anyone would have purses or accessoried for OVER A YEAR with tags on them still? if the tags are still on them and they are unused... IMO i would think you don't really want them? this thread (and forum) fascinates me... i can only think of the hoarder series when i hear stuff like that!

i may keep my tags on a week or two if i'm undecided... but i never keep anything (coach or otherwise) for a year or more! YIKES!

Last week I gathered up all my coach purchases from the outlet that had been MIA in my collection. I went to the outlet with the intentions of returning 2 wallets that I had bought in the past month and buying my MSB which had a pretty price tag attached. I ended up forgetting the cheaper wallet at home but still did the return on the more expensive one. I placed my charge send order and then noticed new deletes. I picked out a kristen swingpack and a matching slim wallet for my boyfriend's grandma. I must have asked 4 SA's how it looked and what they thought. I didn't plan on finding something to buy her but in the end I chose 1 of the 3 I was carrying around.

So I had the SA hold it at the counter and I told her I would be right back to see her because I wanted to do some returns on some old items and didn't want the others to think i was crazy. I had stuff from 2008. I had all the receipts too! I didn't know I had stuff that old but I think I returned like 6 things. The total ended up being like $120 and it paid for my swingpack, wallet, and keyfob minus $5. They knew the 2 were gifts. I ended up coming back a few days later and exchanging the wallet or a matching changepurse. Since my returns were so old and the cards had been reissued they gave me store credit and thats how I ended up with the $120. I said I am not gonna use them now so I mine as well return them. I said I felt silly cause they were so old but the SA said it would be silly to keep them if I wasn't going to use them. When I did the wallet exchange for the coinpurse I was supposed to get $23ish back but another SA I always talk to said I could get cash cause it was under a certain amount. I would have taken the card cause I would use it in the future. I like buying gifts and such.

My returns were so old because A. I just never used them. and B. because my mother decided to clean my room and packed most of them away in the bottom of a box under a rice cooker and put it in the basement. I couldn't find these things for over a year and a half. I didn't use them and they were to be gifts and those birthdays and needs had come and gone and this is what I told the SA. So I understand returning things that are old. I am hoping that because I did that I won't get in trouble. I had all my receipts. In the past month I guess you could say that I spent like $700 but some of that was with the exchange. Like $120 of it. The one SA at the outlet even commented that I was carrying my Sophia that day because I had talked to her 2 weeks before and took me like an hour and a half to decide to take it home. So its not like I selling it and I am not using it. I don't sell like that. I just get rid of the old ones I don't use anymore. I only have 7 purses so its not that bad.

I have in the past turned in 3 of my damaged purses w/o receipts. I hope they don't ban me because I am a loyal customer but after reading these messages I fear this too and I don't think that it is fair for everyone. If TJmaxx or Marshals ever did a return to much ban I feel like I would be the first on the list. I am just very picky. I like being able to return my items without fear. You take your purse home, put all your stuff it in, try it out, and then decide. That doesn't seem to be a crime to me.

I was at Leesburg today returning a bag I bought the other day on impulse.

I noticed the same old thing that I always see at Leesburg - a woman and some partners purshasing a huge amount of bags each - you just know they are resellers - and the SAs catering to them - giving them the huge brown shopping bag, running in the back to get special items, etc.

I just dont get it - Why are they catering to resellers and banning others?

Maybe the SAs know or are foreseeing that these resellers will be getting a ban in the future? Maybe if the resellers buy a certain amount of everything it will trigger the ban and the SAs know that so they are trying to help them along? Ya, I don't really get it either. I think the SAs in a store can tell when someone is buying for themselves, so why report the wrong people to corporate? Or does corporate look at each outlet and decide from their end someone should be banned? It all seems rather wrong, but it does seem that at least 2 of these bans were a result of returning FP things to repurchase at outlet price on several occasions.

...I know firsthand that customer activity that an employee finds questionable can be reported and acted upon...

This makes me a little nervous. I used to receive email coupons for the outlet all the time. Then I had a run-in with a mean employee who questioned my frequent visits to the outlet and the fact that I was taking some notes on the FP deletes in stock (to report back to my TPF outlet thread!)

I told her I was "taking notes for a friend that lives quite a distance from the outlet to help her decide if she wanted to make the trip" but she really acted like I was a criminal or something! I have never taken notes again but after that unpleasant encounter I immediately stopped receiving any outlet emails.

I still receive emails for full-price items and I often receive a PCE even though I don't buy much from the boutique, but I never get anything from the outlet - even though I shop there often and always give my name and email address when I checkout!

I have only made one return with a gift receipt, because I grabbed the wrong receipt by mistake, but I wonder if I have have been put on a "suspicious customer list" just because of that nasty SA!

I also used to receive the outlet coupons weekly. However, during this time I wasnt buying as much. It seems as soon as I started shopping frequently again, the coupons stopped. The last one I got was one in the mail about 2 months ago. Havent seen one since. I wonder if they are watching all of us!

honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about the email coupons or the mailed ones for the outlet. I used to receive the email ones all the time(and the postcards sometimes) along with a lot of you and then they just stopped. this seems to have happened to A LOT of us, especially people that shop there frequently so I really think that is just a marketing thing, not a bad thing, you know what I mean? seems like the coupons are sent out to people that either go less or are newer customers as an advertisement to try to get them in with the extra % off (otherwise, they just hand them out in store, it's not like it used to be when you had to have to coupon printed and with you to get the discount).
the emails from the outlet(coupon and online sale) just seem like an automatic marketing thing done by a list in a computer. PCE is a little more controlled I think and each time definitely seems to have a "theme" or targeted group but that's in addition to a list that boutiques have selected some people to just get them all the time. even those though, I wouldn't worry about. that's just all part of their marketing strategy and haven't people who have even been banned still received coupons/pce's too?? I'm pretty sure I remember that being mentioned somewhere before.

Thanks, I feel better!

I would like to see the media involved. Curious to see what Coach would do if the heat was on them.

how many times have the banned ladies on this forum been told to go to the press but they just accept it and do nothing?

heck.... there was the recent one that was a major stock holder and she just roller over... she would have been the perfect person to act as a representative by taking her case to the media

well... that is unless the people banned are really reselling... then it's kind of hard to take it to the media.....
