I’m 1 million percent positive that barenia tanning process applied to gator exists. I own a barenia tanned gator bag. I waited a very long time for the bag and she is the HG of my collection.https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/shes-here-and-shes-fabulous-hermes-alligator-birkin.988518/ Spring is arriving where I live which means pop up rain sprinkles (not down pours). I have my plastic bag handy in case my watch alerts me rain is near (thank you carrot weather on apple watch), but I’m trying to avoid looking like a physcho when I proceed to stick my bag under my shirt while trying to get the bag on or doing whatever I can to proctect the bag from a few raindrops

Yes I have just confirmed this.

I confirmed what you said that I put in bold above in my reply to you. I agree. My SA has confirmed that Barenia Gator is treated in the same tanning process as Barenia leather.

Right my initial question, post 68, was regarding the durability of barenia gator compared to barenia tanned leather. Will it stand up ok to water spots etc as barenia leather tanned bags do? Somehow this question morphed into if the bag existed as barenia tanned or not- I own the bag it exists. I’m checking with my SA but our timing is off and we keep missing each other. I thought I pose the question here but now I’m just annoyed that no one reads any of the posts.

I did also reply to another poster that I would ask my SA this question when I saw him personally. At the moment I have no plans to fly to Paris.

Thank you periogirl for contacting your SA, matt gator and barenia treatment sounds heavenly! You are always so helpful.

Barenia ONLY comes in alligator for exotic leathers. It is not made in croc. Yes it has a very smooth velvety feel and the smell is divine

This is a beautiful bag, love the white contrast stiching!Hope to find out more about the leather, velvet feel must be wonderful to touch.

I believe I read once an old Le Monde d"Hermes article about oil curing the skins of Barenia alligator and crocodile but I cannot find it and I did not keep it. If anyone can find it that would be enlightening.

To the best of my knowledge Fauve is the color, it is color code #34 and Barenia is the skin. I assume that Barenia means the method of oil curing either the hides for the leather bags or the skins of exotic ones.

I am looking right now at an Hermes orange box tag that says "SAC BIRKIN 30 ALLIGATOR MISSISIPPIENSIS BARENIA
COLOR: 34 FAUVE"

Exotic Barenia comes in Niloticus Crocodile and Porosus Crocodile as well as Alligator. The color is always Fauve.
