How come my fauve bag color seems lighter,
I like yours it's more rich in color, mine look too raw:cry::cry::cry:.

Mine was also the same shade of colour as yours and also matte ...

I did some research lately about barenia hermes both leather/ croc for I was offered a pristine Birkin 35 porosus stamp K , FAUVE , while I was in Hermes Store in Paris and also was offered the Birkin 35 alligator BARENIA ... to me they look alike (Tan colour) the price of the pristine POROSUS that I was offered is a little bit cheaper ..so I made decision to buy the porosus for I like the scale better.
to me whatever the colour called , FAUVE or BARENIA or sometimes they call BARENIA FAUVE !!!!! doesn't matter now but.... one thing I have to be careful is that the real Barenia process which normally takes 5-8 weeks with 8 types of oil at least ! will be ok to walk in the rain and let it age beautifully with the Barenia patina ...BUT NOT the FAUVE I believe...
And now that I realize that the Barenia Birkin that I was offered in Paris is the real Barenia for the skin is smoothier like a velvet and that they can only do the barenia process on Alligator only not the Porosus ... I was regret a bit not to but that one for I heard that it's much more difficult process than the color treat to make it like the barenia that the HERMES calls it 'FAUVE"

Wondering if anyone knows: Will barenia alligator be as much of a workhorse as barenia?? For example, will water spots disappear on the barenia alligator like they do on barenia bags? I'm just wondering if I can be a smidge less paranoid when I carry this bag, cause I'm uber paranoid....

I am ready to be corrected but I believe 'barenia (fauve) alligator' is the name of the colour - nothing to do with the tanning/curing process of the alligator skin.

Just take reasonable care with your bag - don't become paranoid; it is more robust that you might think.
According to this post by @birkel on the first page, it's gone through the barenia tanning process. :shrugs:

Thank you for that. You prompted me to read the whole thread.
It was also docride's opinion when the question was first raised and post 66 on this thread supports the barenia process being used to tan alligator.

This is correct. My bag is an alligator skin that has undergone the barenia tanning process. I’m wondering if it gets wet if it’s going to show spots like other alligator pieces. For example, the way water spots appear on alligator CDCs...

Confirmed by my Paris SA. The Barenia tanning process is used for Barenia (heritage/ smooth), Barenia Gator and Barenia Fakbourg. Fauve refers to the colour.
