All these studs, or whatever deco they are, are very tricky, and if one falls off, that will be it - your cool and edgy shoes will turn into a mess, and hardly ever get worn again. When it comes to shoes, especially at these price levels, put practicality, comfort and durability in the first place.
what if the glitter starts peeling of?? scratch and show discolouration due to rubbing against each other while walking?? will you like them still the same??
we do bump into coaches, chair/table legs, someone might accidentally step on your foot... how would you feel then?
Very wise advices, really gotta think harder instead of just click and buy. So many fancy seasonal items just either stay in closets or tossed aside after couple of wears. Im trying hard to stay within my yearly budget as well, not a lot of budget left and there are 7 months to go....

Thank you all so much for banding together and trying to talk reason into me. I seriously love this forum of like minded, supportive people.

I did end up purchasing the shoes. They really stole my heart as I am a jeans and a t shirt kind of girl most days and these just make that look so special and fun. I realized Valentino rockstuds have been on my wishlist for ages but I haven’t found a casual everyday pair that I would wear often and fit me right. So, these fill that void and bring me joy.

I’m definitely taking the advice of you all and seeing if I can find a cheaper alternative before I decide to keep these. I have tried other mules but don’t like the way they look on my feet. I’m also posting in the CL forum to try to get input on the staying power of those spikes as that is a concern.

I paid for these out of my splurge fund so I don’t feel guilty but need to understand that is less towards future things. I actually feel no guilt like I normally do, I simply can’t wait to wear them! To me, that’s a sign.

I am in no way leaving this island. This was a treat and I’m glad I bought them... but now it’s back on a ban and continuing to enjoy all that I have.

That is a very good point!! I am definitely thinking about that and looking for input on the CL forum. Thank you!

One more week and I’ll be 2 months into ban island after I had escaped from April.

People close to me did notice I stopped buying bags. I always say it’s because the recent collections don’t appeal to me (they don’t for the most part).

So when I show interest they end up buying it for me. I need to learn how to resist this as well. I did accept one from Mom, because it’s Mom, kinda hard to say no. We coordinate now lol.

But I went on this ban to appreciate what I have more, instead of being caught up in a buying-selling cycle. So I need to also learn how to politely but firmly refuse gifts.

I also don’t regret my escape in April. I adore that bag and I’ve used it with such ease.

i have realised that my 'you never know what you'll be offered down the road' said in my year resolution is defining my whole approach.
I have no urge, or crave for a new bag for the sake of getting a new bag.
Since the start of 2018 i have purchased a few bags, more than i planned, but all are ones i could not afford to pass on as i'm 99.99% sure i would never find them at the same terms (new, discount, colour, etc)
i am glad i got them all, even though i cannot stay on the complete ban
Probably, complete ban is just not for me
But what i do, is i discuss the new find with my DH and he helps me greatly to evaluate the potential acquisition.
i can compare it to having fine dinner, oysters and champs, good when done once in a while

Great point. I have been eyeballing the Valentino Rockstud spike bag. But exactly what you mentioned is what worries me. One missing stud / spike and I’m going to not wear the bag I have no idea if Rockstud items come with extra studs but I’d almost have to have 2-3 in reserve to feel comfortable.

Same for any items with doo dads that can come off easily. They scare me.

Good job with slowing your purchases to ones you really love!!! I’m not one for a total ban either. If I find the perfect bag I’ll buy it. I just want to make sure I hard pause all the time so my purchases make sense. I’ve lasted 10 months. But my time of not buying is definitely coming to a close before year end.

i honestly tried, but i can't just hold onto the ban for the sake of holding it and miss on a LE bag that is made in very short quantity and i either will end up with gnawing remorse of missing it, or, if i am lucky enough to find it after, pay over retail :nono:
i have just got a 100 anny Balenciaga bag, extremely limited and a must have for someone like me
i would be kicking myself for life if i'd missed this one out!!

I was in a similar situation as you and returned the shoes I purchased. (perfect Valentino’s 40% off) Two hours later I called the store & asked if they were still there. They were the last pair in the company when I returned them. I had a small panic attack after returning them (& felt like I had a mental problem!) But I didn’t care! I was relieved they were still available! After repurchasing the shoes, I am happy to have them but they they are not as great as I originally thought. I’ve also seen many amazing shoes & other finds since then. The guilt I felt for repurchasing them stopped me from making other purchases. Taking a time out from shopping is a process - it’s a learning experience and not easy to do. Especially now when everything is on sale. I am 100% absolutely not making any more purchases until Sept/Oct. Re-purchasing these shoes, and all the anxiety from going back on my word has shown me I don’t need all this stress.
