It is a little bit crowded as you noted. And when it's in there, the bag doesn't slouch the way I love it to when it's empty.

But my work laptop is a 15" MacBook Pro! So I'm screwed for that machine - when I have to take it to client meetings it gets stashed in my Mulberry (oversized) Alexa. They are supposed to be getting me a smaller 13" MBP at work but I think it might be too heavy for any Bal.

Personally, I wouldn't carry a MBP in my Bal, because I find it too heavy. The max I'd put in it is a 13 inch MBA.

Perhaps you could just get a laptop bag to put the laptop in? There are some pretty nice, inexpensive bags for MBPs. I used to use Fabrix cases with added handles so I could handcarry the laptop, and dump the charger into my bag.

I actually have a really high quality laptop bag from work, but it's got my work logo and just not something I want to carry (it's a nylon backpack that looks more like it should be used for camping).

On my laptop I use a Crumpler sleeve so the laptop is about as sleek as it can be. I hate carrying multiple bags since most of mine are so big (the City is on the small side for me).

That's not a bad idea about the fabrix. There are some cute ones on there right now. I think you're right, the 13" MBP will be too heavy for my City but some of my other bags (Mulberry and Jerome Dreyfuss) have handled my 13" ok.

Very helpful thread, thanks for sharing!

Just wondering if anybody can share how a midday compares to the other bags? Interested in a midday but it seems rather limited, so looking for alternatives and velo seems too big for me and town too small.

Could someone tell me if the handles of the Weekender are the same as those of Work?
Can it be worn over the shoulder? I am interested in the Regular Hardware Weekender.

hi ladies, anyone with Courier, Velo, Day?

Want to know how courier feels compared to Day/Velo.. read in other threads that Courier wraps around body nicely :) i think Courier's a plus cuz of the adjustable strap.. I have a Velo and Day.. i usually double-loop my Velo strap and carry it on shoulder.. i love roomy bags..

thanks in advance :D
hi may i know how you double loop the strap ? thanks

hi may i know how you double loop the strap ? thanks

1. Unhook the strap from one ring - A.

2. Pass the strap through Ring A.

Optional: Pass the strap through the weight distributor pad. This is quite hard (because the hardware doesn't go through the notches on the piece easily, so you really have to grit your teeth and yank. So if you intend to rotate between the single and double loop options, omit this step.

3. Hook the strap onto Ring B.

Voila, the strap is double looped and now half its original length.

Is this way of looping correct?

Just found this - as a Bal novice (but very tempted!) - this thread is the answer to my prayers as I have been very confused as to which Bal to go for - I prefer the more structured City or Part-Time as opposed to the Pom Pom and Day, I think, and a not too small a bag - but this info is really helpful and hopefully will aid my final decision - thank you ladies!!:D

First vs. Town

- Same width but thinner base for First

- Town is a bit taller than First too

- What this means: iPad can fit more comfortably in the Town compared to a First.

I can fit my iPad and a Money wallet in my First, but that means I can't zip the bag, as the iPad sticks out a tad beyond the zip, but does not stick out of the bag frame. Without the Money wallet, the iPad fits just nicely under the zip, but I still wouldn't zip it for fear of scratching my iPad.

Flat Clutch (Handle) vs. Town
This pair is much closer in size, being of similar heights

But the Town is a wee bit wider at the base as it is shaped like a trapezium, broader at the base)

Of course, the Flat Clutch is flat, so it has no base, unlike the broad base of the Town.
