Bags You Thought About Purchasing & Glad You Didn’t

For a long time I thought about buying a Stam bag. There was a thread on TPF years ago about what bags people had the most regrets about buying and the Stam was at the top of the list. Too heavy with a chain pressing on the shoulder, not enough room, and the kiss-lock closing were all cited as drawbacks. So I didn't buy one. I still feel ambivalent about it. Love those bags but maybe not so practical.
I'm the same with the Stam bag. I go back and forth on that one -- still somewhat undecided. I actually like kiss-lock closures and would like a bag with one at some point, but I think they suit small bags better than large ones.

BV chain pouch. Love the pouch but the chain makes it too trendy. Update may 2021, got the chain pouch ...

Chanel 19, the stiff leather shoulder piece made even stiffer with the chunky chain on top of it is not comfy to me and it keeps slipping off my shoulder so it is limiting since I can only cross body it.

Hermes Kelly cut / medor clutch which are mainly for nights out and who goes out at night these days? Dinners are quick too because the restaurants here impose a maximum of 1.5 hours per table.

Hermes Marwari , too heavy.

LV speedy and neverfull, outgrew wanting them.

YSL Mombasa, enough said I am sure almost no one remembers this bag.

I still love my Speedy and Neverfull. The Neverfull is what I use when I need to carry my laptop.

With regards to going out for dinners, we haven't been to dine in since last year summer .

Givenchy Pandora - I thought the version in black Pepe leather was the coolest thing I've ever seen. If I had one today, I wouldn't be sure if I can still pull them off. (Similarly, I still don't know what to do with my YSL tote bag...)

Chanel Boy and Gabrielle - Man, I had such a thing for these back then. Glad I didn't pull the trigger for any of them because I lost my enthusiasm for them fairly quickly.

Curious to know why you lost your excitement for the Boy and Gabrielle?

Vintage Hermès Kelly - I had already talked to the seller a lot about the bag and received many additional pictures. It was a really fair price for the condition so I was feeling pressured (that no one else buys it from right under my nose) that I nearly got it without really deciding if it's the right bag for me. And it really isn't and I'm glad I didn't buy it: It was a Kelly 25 retourner in black box leather without shoulder strap, which would've been too small for the office & errands, too dressy /ladylike for most occasion, but too large for an evening bag. And I don't like black leather and gold hardwear combination. Maybe the time for a kelly comes, not right now. In the meantime I started leaning more towards the Fendi Peekaboo or LV Capucine.

Gucci large “GG” horsebit hobo in black leather. I was obsessed with this bag but could not afford it. I am glad I never bought it because it was just so heavy; I would never have been able to carry it. If Gucci ever reintroduced this bag in a soft lightweight leather, I may reconsider.

Ha, ha thanks.....I checked out some mini and baby Stams in the Stam thread and will have to look into it further. Seems like they come in a crossbody style and also a top handle style and I'm thinking I would prefer the top handle....
Baby Stam, that's the word I was looking for. I came up with little, mini, small... Here's a pic of mine, long since sold.
