Bags You Thought About Purchasing & Glad You Didn’t

To me, the Dior book tote may look dated in a year or two. The Dior saddle bag, personally, I just don't like the shape of it. Others may love it though .
I agree on the Saddle bag - it looks so 2005 and I never like the shape of it either. Especially in the Oblique canvas it's just not so appealing.
The Book tote - I think you can get similar bags for less than 100€ that will wear better. I really like the shape of the Book tote (wide bottom = more space!) and found a great alternative in Coach Field tote which I purchased in the size 40. It's in coated canvas so it will last an eternity. It cost me more than 100€ but I'm thinking it was still very much worth it at 375€.

LV Speedy 30 bag. I needed a bag that could hold all of my toddler’s snacks, clothes changes, etc. The Speedy was definitely functional in that aspect but it looked like I was carrying around a piece of luggage. The SA could tell I wasn’t happy and brought out a Soufflot MM. So glad he did because it holds everything for toddler and can function on its own as a beautiful daytime bag.

Yes, I agree about the Dior book tote. I think it's beautiful, but with the big letters on the front, it will probably be dated. I also don't think many Dior bags in general have staying power.

The Lady Dior bag is a classic bag (which I don't own). I own the discontinued Diorama wallet on chain. I don't see people carrying it often anymore, but I still love mine very much .

Maybe I am old fashioned. The shape of the Dior saddle bag just looks strange to me. It looks like the shape of a liver .

The Dior Book Tote looks like a very functional bag (although too big for my body frame). With what the bag is made out of, I personally can't justify spending that much on it. I agree, there are many good alternatives, Coach being one of them.

We use a kid's small backpack that holds everything for a day outing. If we go travel (which is not possible now), I take a waterproof diaper bag. The thoughts of ruining a designer handbag is just too stressful for me to handle (e.g. water spills, opened snacks etc.). Lol.

Alexander Wang Rocco: I was obsessively stalking this bag for ages but I'm glad I didn't buy it because the studs are just too heavy for me.

Hermes Constance: I used to love this bag so much. But now I don't really like using bags with huge logos so I've gotten it out of my system :P

LV Alma PM black épi: I wanted it for years. I finally purchased it a year ago, and was happy for 2 or 3 days. Then I opened my eyes and felt the leather quality was VERY different from my 10 year-old épi Speedy. Much lighter, much thinner, less luxurious. I don't mind heavy bags, so the "comfort" argument doesn't work on me. I regretted, and luckily I returned it and was refunded.

For a long time I thought about buying a Stam bag. There was a thread on TPF years ago about what bags people had the most regrets about buying and the Stam was at the top of the list. Too heavy with a chain pressing on the shoulder, not enough room, and the kiss-lock closing were all cited as drawbacks. So I didn't buy one. I still feel ambivalent about it. Love those bags but maybe not so practical.

Haha yes! It’s normally a Berghaus hiking pack. I just realized that there are times when I go out that I want to carry a nice bag, but still needed it to be big enough for some of his things. Unfortunately lockdown happened a couple months later so I’ve gotten little use out of it so far.

For us, we drive to everywhere (even pre-COVID), so we rarely carry our kid's stuff. We leave her small backpack in the car for the most part. It is unfortunate that we can't travel due to COVID. We were hoping to go on a family trip.

A Chanel Seasonal Flap Bag from 19B. I fell in love with this style when I saw it in beige on Chanel website:

As soon as I saw one in red at NM, I thought I found the love of my life. However, looking at it in real life, I realized it was happening too much at the front flap with the combination of the quilt, chevron, not to mention the vertical leather piece that connects the horizontal metal bar and the CC logo turn lock all together. It also felt very flimsy and delicate too. So I returned it and got the small black caviar Coco Handle instead. Never regret ever since!

Givenchy Pandora - I thought the version in black Pepe leather was the coolest thing I've ever seen. If I had one today, I wouldn't be sure if I can still pull them off. (Similarly, I still don't know what to do with my YSL tote bag...)

Chanel Boy and Gabrielle - Man, I had such a thing for these back then. Glad I didn't pull the trigger for any of them because I lost my enthusiasm for them fairly quickly.
