I could never get on board with LV painted canvas. Think of Joan Cussack from “Working Girl” when she picks up a sweater or dress or something of Sigourney Weaver’s and sees the the outrageous price and cries out something like “It’s not even leathah!” Lol that is me and painted canvas.

This is so why I cannot seem to push through with buying an LV! I know they have leather but those tend to me more expensive.

I have tried with Louis Vuitton. The only thing that catches my eye are the small leather goods. I own a pouchette accesoires that I bought from them in 2001 and a wallet off of eBay. I’ve realized that I’m just not an LV girl.

Well, let me add that I like the basic Twist bag and the Cappucines. I just don’t like them enough to pay full price.

I like the Puzzle but this made me LOL'd. Yes! I guess it does look like that.

Love all of these posts. Personally, I think Loewe makes some beautiful bags, but I can’t get on board with the Puzzle bag. It looks like the leather scraps you would find on the cutting room floor patched together to make a bag.

The Loewe Puzzle
I have been a Loewe fan for the longest time, I even have RTW but I don't get the Puzzle bag. I don't think it looks like it's particularly made out of scraps, I just think it looks like someone cut the leather for a bag and then someone else who had never made a bag before put the Puzzle together = incorrectly. It's over-thought and over-designed which is never cool.

The Hermes Halzan
I've decided I don't get Hermes Halzan. h.com states it can be used 3 ways, as a clutch, a messenger and a tote. The 'tote' handles do not looks strong or wide enough for the main body of the bag and are just wide strips of leather which feel odd in the hand, for that money I would want rolled handles. It's 12" x 8" x 4" carrying it as a clutch would be as comfortable as carrying a Jack Russell Terrier (done that). Basically, I've decided for me it's a messenger bag with some funny leather bits and a decorative buckle. The first ones were not even lined. Yet people love it so it must be just me.

In fact I always have to look up the spelling and often spell in Hazlan first. I looked up Hazlan and got the answer "Hazlan is a domain of ancient magic and severe oppression" and another " Hazlan is a cornucopia of the strange" which are close to the mark. I think it's Hermes that can't spell.

I don't get backpacks. I saw at least a dozen women with them today.
It seems very inconvenient to take it off to be able to use it. If you want to be hands free, why not use a crossbody? Also are you going on a hike or to school? No, food shopping. With a backpack that I have to put on when I get out of the car, and take it off to give my child a juice box, then put it back on until I get to the register and do it all over again? I really don't get this trend at all.

I also feel like someone needs to explain this to me. I had a backpack for my camera gear, but found it horribly inconvenient to get my dSLR in and out while traveling. I see women who bring nicer backpacks while on holiday, and they often wear them on the front of their bodies, which begs the question, why bring it at all? And yes, unless you're with someone who can get the thing from your backpack while you're out with the kids, I feel like there are better options out there.

This thread is HILARIOUS!!! It's just so interesting how we all love different things about the bags we so adore. I'm completely aware that lots of my bags are given the side-eye; that being said, it's not like I'M not side-eyeing THEIR bags...

I actually love threads like this. It's cool to see how different we all are. I saw people say they didn't like or get the bags I have and it amused me greatly with no hard feelings.

I think the Neverfull. It's not that I don't get it- it's a great bag and it looks roomy and convenient, but I don't "get it" enough to know why everyone in my city seems to have one. LV makes tons of great bags but you barely see them because everyone wants a Neverfull.

Also the Lady Dior bag. It looks cute but it looks hard to pull off for some reason. It's shaped like a toy or something, I can't explain it.
.
Same feeling! I know a lot of people don't get the Pandora bag, and it's funny and amusing to see how it's described.

I agree with the Lady Dior.

I find this hilarious since I just LOVE the Lady Diors, specifically! Maybe just BECAUSE they're so box-like. (I just realized I have a thing for boxes and box-shaped bags!)

Speaking of CoverGirl, this compact brings back memories! Every girl in my junior high class had this exact pressed powder. My color was soft honey.:love:

EXACTLY!!! EXACTLY!!!! I could never put my finger on this until you pointed it out- I can even smell the powdery fragrance!!!

The JW Anderson Pierce bag is probably the most popular bag that I really don't understand. In any way.

 Nose ring, anyone?

This is a great thread! It’s been fun to read all the comments....without the snark.
As previously stated, I am a bag junkie. I can talk myself into almost ANY bag.
After reading the entire thread, I thought I would throw in some history of the bags most people say “WTF” about.
LV- originally started as a luggage company. The mono print came about because of the large amount of knockoffs of the checkerboard print. The iconic “Speedy” was invented for women to travel with, like a train Case. Servers were becoming less common and women had to carry their own stuff so they made it lightweight.
Chanel- women are joining the work force. Simple Un fussy clothes were needed. Classic styles that were of good quality material. Back then, women of 35 were “over the hill” and as a result, these bags were often seen as old lady bags as they were the ones who could afford them.
“Nut sacks”. Sorry I will always call them that now [emoji14] became popular in the 60’s with the emerging hippie movement. Young women didn’t want the structured, rigid bags their moms and grandmas carried. Frye motorcycle bags were in huge demand as women wanted a free and easy lifestyle.
The 70’s brought women to the workforce in unprecedented numbers. Military style pantsuits and multi pocket bags that could be thrown in a giant work tote were seen as workwear.
Disco bags became hugely popular. Small enough to take clubbing and hold only a few essentials.
MTV changed how many dressed. Loud colors in weird fabrics that showed to advantage in “fast moving” dance montages.
The 90’s brought the advent of plain. Clothes and bags in neutral colors with simple lines that at first glance made it hard to tell if they were expensive or not.
Because of new EPA regulations, it became cheaper to make and ship items from overseas. Quality control for some companies just went out the window.
The Aughts brought us minimalism. Women want simpler, easier to manage wardrobes. And with it an all purpose bag that carries them through their day.
Companies don’t make money if women only need ONE of anything, so they change it up every season. Create a “need” for an item even if it doesn’t fit our currant lifestyle.
so they look to the past for shapes and colors that the current gen hasn’t seen.
This makes for a fun flip through magazines, but no practicality for a modern women.
Huh!!! Fascinating!

I dont get the lv-jeff koons bags...[emoji135]

This is interesting bc I'm completelyneutral about the LVs (prob due to every other person having one here, plus its open-top-ness), but I just LOVE jk, so although I have no clue what you're talking about, I'd probably jump on this had I seen it!

I legit had the thick, heavy chain taken off my Mulberry because every time I got to work, the noise of the chain hitting my desk was like an office-wide notification that I'd arrived.
HAHA!!! Exactly. Whenever I put down my Stam I'm jarred by how much noise it makes, then wonder if I've dented something :wtf:

That little zip pocket on the flap is so worthless. You cannot fit anything in that pocket. Those love letters Chanel was hiding must’ve been as small and thin as receipts because that’s really the only things that fit in there.

I also hate that I can’t close my bag without worrying how the zipper will mark the inner, second flap. I guess that flap is also pointless, but it doesn’t really bother me as much as that zipper pocket.

 These types of design flaws make me crazy. Or details that are only for show (zippers which don't zip; pockets which aren't pockets, etc). Or ANY major hardware which just adds huge weight to an already-heavy bag (I'm looking at you, super cute studded AWs...)

Today I carried a beautiful unstructured leather tote which JUST KEPT FLOPPING OVER, so in order to keep all my things from falling out, I kept having to lean it on a wall or something, standing things upright in my bag. WAY TOO MUCH WORK for being at work, if you ask me!!! I ended up carrying my rectangular recycled shopping bag around it all day, since at least IT stands up on its own!!!

I also feel like someone needs to explain this to me. I had a backpack for my camera gear, but found it horribly inconvenient to get my dSLR in and out while traveling. I'm totally NOT a backpack person, but my friend had a mini-leather one, so after seeing her love it for years, I thought I'd TRY it. Since then, I've acquired a few more, thinking great, it'll distribute the weight more evenly on my back, and I'll be hands-free. More often than not, though- I need like ONE more inch to fit my things in it/them; they're really cumbersome to get in/out of (unpack everything to get the one thing); I'm always worried someone is behind me; and I tend to carry them one-shouldered anyway!!! Lesson learned...
