Bag Insults - Ever Had One?

And let me guess $80 is the top amount that she herself has spent...
Ever notice how these comments are all about how everyone should do whatever the commenter does?

Because I guess these are the perfect people we should all strive to be... ???

Yes, my mom thinks everyone should do exactly what she does. If they don't, they're doing it wrong.

I can't remember who said it here but I really like the 'it's not an addiction, it's a hobby' comment.

Some people collect magnets, we collect bags haha

A former close friend implied that I was 'missing' something in my life, hence I buy bags. Needless to say she's no longer that close to me.

She collects jewellery, does that mean she's missing something in her life too?? Oh but wait ... That's different coz it's an 'asset' (according to her)

I love this comment so much.

My sil never compliments anything, but will stare it up and down. Right after my hubby bought my delightful mm for me she gave it the up and down and said thats too big. No one needs a bag that big. I said i like big bags. Shes a big michael kors person 😒

Personally I have never had an insult - well not to my face any way. Yes some think I'm crazy for spending so much on a bag. But I will tell them in a heart beat - You do You and I'll Do Me! You can't do you if you worried about me! Every one has a vice - mine happens to be handbags which has not changed since I started making my own money at fifteen. Unfortunately when people pass judgement they should probably take a look at their back yard before critiquing someone else's. You ladies hold your head high and wear what makes you happy. Don't waste time thinking or worrying about what any one else thinks. You will never please everyone and there will always be someone who has something negative to say. Again hold your head high and tell them - "You do You and I'll do Me!"

Be Blessed MoNikki

I totally understand. My co-worker does the stare up and down but won't say anything. She will come by my desk and try to not let me see her staring at my bag but she won't say anything.

You enjoy your bags and to hell with those two. Grab life with both hands and live it up. After what you have been through you deserve it!:hugs:

Thanks. What's worse is, I just came out of five years of hell with kidney failure, advanced breast cancer, loss of dream job, ginormous blood clot and Stage 4 kidney disease. Things were just starting to look better again when I got the bags to ... yes .. TREAT MYSELF after surviving things that were life-threatening and life-sapping! I wanted to feel somewhat human again, ya know?

They do give me pleasure when I use them, and they'll last years. Hell, they're already a decade old and still look brand new! I feel like a million bucks when I wear them, much better than a couple years ago when I felt like I was drowning in life's sewer ... not knowing if I'd ever make it out.

Life is indeed too short to worry about what others think of you. The moment you take your last breath is a mystery. It could be in the next five seconds, five minutes, five years or five decades. Don't let others' misery with their lives zap the happiness out of yours.

Bags are a relatively new obsession for me. I also collect designer & urban vinyl toys, some of the rarer ones created by the more well-known artists can go for more than 1k on eBay. I got judged a lot for spending so much on them (my friends were joking about hosting interventions), I wager some TPF members here would probably be just as appalled, but it's really all the same thing. Some people spend the money on trips, some spend it on electronics. If you love it and have the money to spend on it, and it makes you happy, it really isn't anybody else's business.

+ 1- love the if it makes you happy. ...

Only on tpf, ironically.
It bothered me @ first, to read stereotypes/anger targeting certain brand owners. Now, eh, whatever--not my problem.

Below thread is similar to this one & equally insightful, imo:

+2 it's a hobby. It's no better or worse than playing golf, dungeons & dragons, etc.

I agree. Outside opinions should not distract from our love for the bags we enjoy. No fashion opinion rules supreme over what I find pretty. Ironically, I like reading the hate brands thread because some of the posts make me laugh and entertaining. Some peoples dislikes for some brands or styles are pretty strong or interesting. :smile1:

Not an insult per se, but my colleagues stopped being friendly to me once I started carrying my LV Vernis Alma to work. (we're secretaries and the bag, which is priced out of our pay range was a gift from my fiancé)

In fact it started a chain of politics and backstabbing that ultimately culminated into my leaving the firm. Who wants to work in a place where your colleagues are waiting to do you in??

But as my fiancé says, "If you're happy they hate you." Seems like miserable people only want to be friends with other miserable people.
