What a mean comment :(
I'm so glad you had a little splurge and decided to treat yourself. These bags are investments and will bring you so much pleasure when your using them. I agree, you did get them at a steal! Enjoy and congrats :)

Thanks. What's worse is, I just came out of five years of hell with kidney failure, advanced breast cancer, loss of dream job, ginormous blood clot and Stage 4 kidney disease. Things were just starting to look better again when I got the bags to ... yes .. TREAT MYSELF after surviving things that were life-threatening and life-sapping! I wanted to feel somewhat human again, ya know?

They do give me pleasure when I use them, and they'll last years. Hell, they're already a decade old and still look brand new! I feel like a million bucks when I wear them, much better than a couple years ago when I felt like I was drowning in life's sewer ... not knowing if I'd ever make it out.

Life is indeed too short to worry about what others think of you. The moment you take your last breath is a mystery. It could be in the next five seconds, five minutes, five years or five decades. Don't let others' misery with their lives zap the happiness out of yours.

Wow, you are certainly a survivor! Kudos to you!

I agree 100% that life is too short to waste time worrying about what others think of you.

I love this thread! I have a friend that constantly insults BV saying she doesn't see what is and there are so many bags with weaves and no one wud know the difference! I do and I love BV! Don't buy it if you don't like it but don't insult my taste and choice!!

Yes! ITA with that!

I also love BV, by the way :graucho: I only have one (a vintage piece), but I love it to bits.

Oh my, if someone doesn't "get" BV then there's no use even trying to explain...
Just pat her on the shoulder and look at her sadly and say, "I know, dear..."

What does it matter if no one would know the difference? Isn't that kinda the point with BV anyway? Subtlety?

Thank you! It was a rough go for a good while ... just one thing after another. But I made it through. Still dealing with the kidney disease cause there's no cure for that, but it's OK. :smile1:

I've heard them all and it's no one's business what I buy or how much I pay. Once in a doctor's office the receptionist (the dr's gf) gave me a lecture about how wrong it is to spend money on expensive bags (I hadn't said a word to her about my BV). I shouldn't have bothered answering her, but I told her that dh and I give a lot to charity so I didn't feel guilty. Oddly enough, the doctor broke up with her not long after that so maybe the gf was getting on other's nerves too.

I know! I don't get how someone can't get it :-)

GeorgiaGirl, You are such a survivor! Congratulations on making it through and you so deserve the treat you gave urself.

I think some ppl would like the brand to be spelled out when they spend money. This friend would rather buy the fake than the real deal.

Not a true insult, but currently, my mom doesn't understand my interest in buying a crocodile/python purse. Despite having a healthy savings account while working and always buying necessities, nothing extravagant, she thinks spending over $80 for a purse is a ridiculous amount of money.

And let me guess $80 is the top amount that she herself has spent...
Ever notice how these comments are all about how everyone should do whatever the commenter does?

Because I guess these are the perfect people we should all strive to be... ???

I have close friends who would call my bags and wallets ugly in a joking way, not sure if that's their honest opinion since we do have pretty different styles. I'm not THAT offended because we're close enough and we jokingly insult one another all the time lol.

One time, though, after seeing my new wallet (while we were shopping together), one of my friends ran into the store from which I got the wallet, found it, and announced the price of my wallet to our group of friends (and in my presence, like 'hey your wallet was $xxx, right?). I was mortified! I mean I don't mind my friends knowing how much I paid for my wallet but for some reason what she did just annoyed me so much, it even felt obscene and distasteful :x

Another time, my other friend who previously insulted my new wallet (that same wallet) and said she didn't like the brand, etc (albeit jokingly) showed up two weeks later with her new wallet from *gasps* THE SAME BRAND! So I asked 'oh I thought you didn't like the brand?' And she was all 'yeah but my mum bought a bunch of wallets from them and I had to pick one so I picked the least ugly one.' (I know right?) And then proceeded to say something along the lines of 'although our wallets are from the same brand yours is ugly but mine is not'. Can you imagine how many times I had to roll my eyes that day oh god.

That's extremely annoying! I'm sorry you had to go through that. I have a "friend" who used to call me ridiculous because of my Michael Kors bags and then after a year of saying so she started texting me about which bag she should buy and which wallet would go best with the bag she wants...

I'd call that another jealousy mask FAIL.
