I'm not entirely clear on how it works. I think you continue to pay your regular payments and then if you want to 'steal' it, they evaluate how much its worth, how long you've had it for and then they put what you've already paid towards the bag. i THINK. not totally clear. Where in CT are you? I'm a little north of Hartford but my boyfriend and I are moving to Southern CT for the summer. I'm excited to be closer to the city!

I live in Fairfield County. Right on the NY border in Greenwich.

Thats interesting......the stealing thing. Still sounds as if its a little pricey. I stand corrected!

I don't know how it works either but I feel you can buy a nice bag for all the money you shell out to rent monthly thats just my opinion I guess its for people who want new purses without the commitment. I think you can also buy from there too without renting.

Has anyone used this site? Do you like it? Have you ever 'stolen' the bag they sent you? Did it come in good condition? I think itd be nice to pay a small fee to have the bag for a bit, try it out, be sure I love it before I decide to buy it... Thoughts?

How bout the jewelry?

I used to belong. I thought about 'stealing' a Kooba Chiara but it was on the beat up side. I found one in practically mint condition on ebay for way less than what BB&S was selling theirs for.

I've purchased a couple of purses from their oulet: a small dooney & bourke bucket and a clutch (can't remember by who). I considered renting a high end purse just to try it out and see how it felt and all, but then decided against it. I agree with the majority of ladies, I think their prices are on the high side and I would rather save and buy my purses.

For Mother's Day, my son and dil gave me a 3 month membership. I haven't borrowed anything yet, but will soon. Trouble is the bags I like most have wait lists. It's definitely not inexpensive.

Some of us have found GREAT deals on Bag Borrow or Steal! I found the "coveted" 2006 Chanel Dark Gold 226 reissue, on sale, in the outlet, the day after Christmas! Came in perfect condition as well!

When I first heard about this, I was disgusted. I joined some purse forums and one commenter suggested that I walk into a Goodwill store and look at some of the purses available--some 'rich' donors get bored and want to empty out their closets. I walked into one Goodwill store and just hated the lighting. I checked a really sad rack of worn out purses. There was one Guess purse that looked vaguely interesting and I checked the inner lining. I found a dirty rolled up Kleenex and gagged. I got the hell out of there with a feeling of defilement and disgust. I immediately located a place to wash and sanitize my hands. I needed a shower right after that. No more Goodwill stores for me! To even consider paying huge amounts to borrow a bag and share with someone in the world is just beyond me. The image of the snot-drenched Kleenex burned an image in my mind.

Almost all my bags have been bought from retail stores brand new. [I did get a bag or two in my life but they were given to me by friends I trust.] When making a new bag purchase, I try to ask the salesperson to find me the same-styled bag I like still in plastic wrap or from the back room. There is no guarantee that the plastic wrapped bags are brand new but there is a better chance that no used dirty Kleenex ever visited the insides of that bag before I purchased it. I am not germ phobic but I do like cleanliness and expect some exclusivity when I make a new purchase.
To borrow? Are you kidding me???? That' is just plain stupid!

I would rather buy something and sell it when I get tired of it. The other company From Bags To Riches has a site I have used called BagBanco. I bought a used Chanel Classic Flap and a brand new Balenciaga First. I was happy with the condition of the used Chanel Classic and when I got bored with it I sold it for almost what I paid for it.

This just doesnt make sense. It's like leasing a car, but without being able to write off the amount (if you're a business owner). In the end, you have nothing to show for throwing your money down the drain. Even if someone had changing handbag tastes, it still makes more sense to buy a bag, and then resell it to buy something else. At least you are retaining the value of the like-new bag and arent out $200 each month. With videos, it's different b/c you arent using it every day and most of us watch a movie once or plan to just buy it instead.

If the prices were lower it might be okay. I like the idea of getting to try out various styles/shapes/sizes of designer bags before you commit to one but at these prices it is better to just save and get them.

I would want my OWN bag that I can keep for myself. I also don't like knowing that something has been worn by many different people. It takes the whole fun out of gong out and buying designer stuff. Besides, I think I'd be heartbroken every time I had to return a bag I liked.

I also think the renting fees are ridiculously expensive. I'd rather save up that money over a long period of time so I can actually OWN a bag.

ITA!

I rented a couple of different bags from there that I was considering buying. I tried them out, sent them back, bought the one I decided on elsewhere, and have not regretted it. I like it better than buying things at the store and relying on myself to take them back -- often I talk myself into keeping things that aren't right for me.

It's also a great idea if you need a bag for a short time that doesn't fit your lifestyle. That way you're not buying junk you hate or buying an expensive bag you never use. I am not a briefcase person, but would be happy to rent one from there if I had a job interview and needed one. I wouldn't try to predict their timing though. It sometimes takes a few days to get the bag once you put the order in.

I wouldn't use it for my daily life though. I get too attached to bags I like.
