  • Yay, lots of illicit bag flings, with no serious commitment...sign me up!

it's like leasing a car, sure you can change whenever you want, but you are penalized for every inevitable scratch/dent there is, and worse of all, after all the $ you paid, you end up w/empty handed.

I actually planned to do that very thing---buy the bag, or "steal it". However, the price they quoted was actually $500 more than what the bag sold for in the Chanel boutique. Now the bag was sold out across the country, so it depends on how bad you want it!

I'm sure most of you are aware of bag, borrow or steal, the website, which kind of like a video store, rents out designer handbags. I'm in 2 minds about the whole thing, in a way it gives the opportunity to 'trial' a bag before you buy, or try a couple at the same time, seeing how it fits in with your life etc. BUT at the same time, it seems so expensive! I also think it might undermine the bags, having them so readily available and exchangeable so that theres nolonger the attachment reserved for one special, hard-earnt bag when you can just rent several top 'it'bags at the same time.
What do you guys think? I guess we are their target market afterall!

N.B I hope this is an original thread, if it isn't I apologise, I did do a quick search for the topic.

There have been MANY threads on this subject.

The consensus has always been that it's a waste of money. You're much better off putting the money towards a bag you can keep.
