I've never seen that lining with that metal logo interior plate. Plus the interior zipper isn't a metal wedge-shaped pull. But Siennas are out of my area. I don't own any. From a Kooba standpoint...I've never seen that combo.

I hope a Sienna owner will chime in here.
Thanks for the response! I own a Sienna myself, and what my concerns where (like you pointed out) the zipper inside being a pull tie and not a metal wedge, the inside lining being monogrammed (I've never owned a Sienna with 'Kooba' printed inside, all of them have been plain suede or silk), and that I did not notice a exterior Kooba plate on the side of the purse (every Sienna I have owned has had one).

Now I have contacted the seller, and they said it is a special edition (thus the gold weaving), that it is a couple years old, and that they purchased it on ebay for around $650.00. The seller has near perfect feedback and they are also selling another Sienna that looks real to me ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/KOOBA-SIENN...553?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item2eb80e73f9 ).

I just don't know what to think about this purse as I have never encountered one like it in the Sienna line, I really like it, but I don't want a replica. I'm hoping someone out there has experience with knowing if Kooba made a Sienna like this one. Thanks again! :)

Well, here's what I do and it's NOT foolproof. I Google it. I Google it in Web and in Images. IF it is legit, it may well have been blogged about.

When I Googled "Kooba Sienna Special Edition" I got this from Kooba's site:
http://shop.kooba.com/Sienna/pd/np/119/p/96551.html

It's not what you're considering bidding on.

I also found a blog entry about someone who won a cream colored Sienna Special Edition in a handbag contest. She notes the lining is lavender. There's no mention of gold stitching. It's a 2006 blog entry.

Now, that doesn't mean Kooba didn't do gold stitching. It doesn't "feel" right to me but I can't discount it. Kooba has done printed linings but long ago, and all the printed linings I've seen had fabric interior logo tags, not the metal plates. And all had the metal zipper pull.

But go play on Google. You might have better luck in matching it to something. :smile1:

Google was a great idea, I am still digging but it seems like this purse might be from a 2005 or 2006 Sienna line. I did find one picture that matches the purse on google.

And a couple mentions of it here:

And then there are the bad mentions of the purse:

So I'm still not sure what to think about if this purse is real or not. :help:

So there really was gold stiching? Wow. But you're only finding mentions here and not on one of the purse or fashion blogs that show images. The image you have doesn't appear to have gold stitching. You'd need to confirm gold stitching AND no zipper pull AND a different lining. You could, I guess, try writing Kooba itself, though I've been told their customer service isn't the best.

Also since the mentions of the white/gold were on this forum you might consider PM-ing the poster who bought the white/gold and ask about the lining and zipper pull.

Other than that... you can try asking the seller for a photo of the "handcrafted in..." tag sewn inside. There are numerous photos of what it should look like in this forum.

Best of luck! Let us know what happens.

This white w/gold Kooba Sienna has a made in/handcrafted tag that says 'handcrafted in China', and it was originally purchased online in September 2005 from this seller ( http://myworld.ebay.com/authenticfashion4you ), which is based out of Hong Kong (not sure what to think of that, but they do have 100% feedback).

The curent seller did not post a picture of the tag, but my own Sienna's all have the same 'handcrafted in china' tag, that the seller mentioned.

I have PM'ed a couple of the owners of the purse, but I have had no more luck with google.

Thanks!

Hi... i bought this on ebay a couple of weeks ago, and I was hoping someone would take a look at it. I feel like it is okay, but the only thing that worries me is possibly that the gold kooba plate is attached to the lining without a leather patch behind it and i have never seen one like that .

Thanks in advance!

Sorry; maybe this one will work:

I saw this the other day and was also wondering...it's kinda got me puzzled. Unless this is a Kooba reissued Marcelle it doesn't look like an authentic vintage Kooba bag to me. For one thing the leather looks too uniform and kinda cheap. Another is that the older Koobas did not have a key fob nor did they have a pen/pencil compartment. The interior fabric looks too shiny rather than the soft ultra suede like fabric and the dust bags were made in a soft white cotton, not a shiny nylon. As the owner of 6 vintage Koobas, personally I would not buy this bag...even as much as I would love to have a Marcelle. Maybe some of the other gals can shine alittle more light on this bag for you.

Hi,
I'm new to TPF and already I'm addicted! I love this bag and have already bid in it and now I'm worried about it's authenticity. I had a bad experience years ago with a fake Stella I nought on eBay so I haven't purchased a bag on eBay since! Love this one but it doesn't mention the name so I'm having trouble googling it.
Thanks!
