I may be wrong, but I am not aware of any new(er) Koobas that have been faked. Since the decline in popularity in the post-Sienna days - I have not seen a recognizable Kooba design that begs to be "faked." So I would tend to believe yours is the real deal.

I also agree with BookWriter... she gave you excellant advice!

There are five pages of fakes here:
xxxxxxxxxx
I've also seen fake Jackie/Harper. But not anything in the 2009-2011 range, though admittedly I don't look that often (just when I'm trying to authenticate one and come across the fake sites).

So I agree--IMHO you're relatively safe from a fake with the newer Koobas. But yunno :smile1: those SOBs could start up again anytime with the latest...

Oh yes you are right BookWriter... one cannot be too careful!! I should have clarified the styles I was referring to. Yes Sienna, Gingers, Jackies, Adas, Jillians, Lucys, Marcelle, Brynne, Annie, Paiges and Jessie are just some of the ones that have been faked extensively. And the Jackies and Harpers as you mentioned. But it *seems* like not much after 2009.

I started collecting Koobas in 2007 and am lucky to say that I bought and still have in my collection some Sienna, Ginger, Annie, Maria and Jessie (now vintage) Koobas. I love LOVE them!

I believe it's a Cassie. At least that's what Neiman Marcus calls it.

The Cara is similar. FYI. http://www.lastcall.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod3920011&parentId=cat2430010&masterId=cat000004&index=6&cmCat=cat000000cat000004cat2430010&isEditorial=false

All photos look fine to me. Nice shots of the zipper pull and the 'handcrafted' tag. I have no reason to doubt authenticity (but please know I'm not an expert--just a Kooba owner.)

Hello,

I am brand new to this forum and I was hoping someone could help me authenticate a couple Kooba Sienna's I am looking at purchasing. I already own one Kooba Sienna in a medium brown/orange-ish color, and I love it! I want to purchase it in black, and either a cream or white color as well. :D

Here are the pictures of a cream colored Sienna:

I know it is probably impossible to tell from the one picture of the black and I have asked the seller for more pictures. I will add them as soon as I have them. Thank you!

Ok. I finally received my Kooba Maggie from Amazon. I have heard so many good things from this thread about the great quality of Kooba bags, but this particular bag concerns me. It does have the "handcrafted made in China" sewn in tag. It also has the Kooba on the zipper pull and the Kooba metal plate on one side of the bag. My question is; Is it normal for the handles on Kooba bags to be 2 different colors? Also, the color of the leather near the pleats seem to be over distressed. I got a great deal on this bag, but if it's not authentic, it's not a deal. Let me know what you think? Sorry for the bad pics, my camera is so outdated.

I just came across this thread and I just wanted to say that when I got my 1st Kooba many yrs ago I got it home and saw the "handcrafted in China" tag and my alarm bells went off so I called Kooba and asked them about that and she said that the lining was manufactured in China (back then it came in a gorgeous green suede with leather trim) and they actually looked up the boutique that I purchased from and assured me that they were an authorized dealer. If I ever have doubts about any designer bag I always call them up to see if they can help. Some can and some can't.....hope that helps a little ;-)

Thanks Dorothy for the tip. I actually returned the purse to Amazon (it wasn't quite what I expected). Love Kooba bags though.

Item: Tan Kooba Hobo
Seller: Savers Thrift Store $13
Photos: http://s1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee413/katev2/Kooba Hobo Tan/#!cpZZ1QQtppZZ16

Comments: I was so surprised to come across this bag at the thrift store! I have never owned a Kooba bag so I would really appreciate an authentication. Let me know if you need more photos.

Also, any information you know about the bag (name, approximate release date, retail cost, etc.?) would be very helpful. This poor bag is dirty, has signs of wear, and even a few ink marks, so any advice on cleaning her up would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

I have been looking at Kooba bags on ebay and I think that this may be a Devin?

I thought it might be a Caitlin but yup, you're right, it's a Devin.

It's a terrific buy at $13! It originally sold for the mid $500s.

The Caitlin is similar but without the pockets.

As for cleaning, there are a number of good leather cleaners out there. Coach makes some (at $10 a bottle, not at all pricey) and the Lovin My Bags site also sells excellent cleaners and restorers.

Thank you! I thought it was genuine because it was so well-made but it is great to have an expert opinion! I love the picture of this bag in red, OMG! But I sure am lucky to have found her at this price in tan or camel! I hope that she cleans up well!
