Hi there.

OK first things first - I work for Tiffany and here's what I can tell you. I showed the box to my old supervisor and she said that she has worked at Tiffany for 25 years and has never seen a shiny box. To her knowledge, Tiffany boxes have not changed their iconic design in at least 50 years. Secondly, I can tell you that Tiffany NEVER give out boxes after a cleaning. Pouches, yes, but you can't even BUY a Tiffany box no matter how much money you have. Tiffany boxes are only ever given to customers at the point of sale of an item. So if your seller is telling you that the box was given to her after a cleaning she's not being honest. I can't see enough of the ring to say for certain but that box is 100 per cent fake.
Thank you very much for your input! I knew my good friend wasn't wrong that the box was fake since she's been purchasing many Tiffany items for so many years. She grew up shopping at Tiffany & Co. in New York and I believe her keen eyesight for the details when it comes to Tiffany items. I'm also glad to hear from someone who works at Tiffany. I actually submitted a report about 2 weeks ago after I received my item and after I posted on this forum, and am still waiting to hear back from Poshmark. They asked me for more photos so I provided it to them, but I haven't heard from them since. Don't think I'll be purchasing from them again..

The seller's story is that she bought 3 of these curved rings in sizes 4-4.5 for her daughter from a reputable second hand site like Poshmark, but her daughter can no longer wear them because she got pregnant. She said she got the rings authenticated at Tiffany.

The whole story seems a little fishy. Hopefully Poshmark lets me return the ring to the seller and then I will only purchase directly from Tiffany & Co. from now on. Don't like stressing over whether or not the item is authentic or not...

Thank you very much!

You're welcome!

Also I can tell you Tiffany have a policy of never authenticating anything, so that part of the story is also a lie. Good luck with it all!

+1 Tiffany does not authenticate. It is even printed at the bottom of the receipt when you take items in for cleaning. I have heard if you have something sent to NYC for repair and it isn't authentic, it will be returned. Not sure if that is true or not.

Your post is very interesting. It's great to have someone that works for Tiffany on here! However, I must dispute a couple of points you make. Tiffany & Co gave me a box when I had a ring re-sized in London. It may be uncommon for them to give out boxes but it certainly happens.

The boxes from Tiffany & Co. have not always been embossed. I'm not sure when they changed - it could be that it was more than 25 years ago but the boxes were smooth. It would be great to know exactly when this happened.

I agree that the smooth box would not have been given out following cleaning - more likely the vendor had it lying around. Do you think you could delve into the boxes a little more? It would be so valuable to buyers to know!

Could someone please let me know if this ebay VCA earrings' listing looks authentic? The VCA font seems a bit off and the "no reserve" price is worrisome, in addition to what appears to be blocked out photo of the serial numberhttp://www.ebay.com/itm/171617684571?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT. Thanks in advance!!!
All I can say is that vendors do block out serial numbers so that they don't fall into the hands of counterfeiters!

Would you say that these vintage boxes are all fake? I wouldn't! The pieces are all very niche, the packaging is consistent.

Unfortunately Tiffany & Co. don't like the secondary market very much :-( which is a shame as it supports the primary retail market. Myths about boxes always being the same are not helpful. You have power in announcing that you work for Tiffany, now please don't use it to mislead :-)

This is very interesting discussion. I purchased a few Tiffany items from ebay Japan, with pouches and boxes. I am confident they are authentic. However their pouches and boxes are definitely different from the ones I normally see here ie. pouches are smaller and boxes are smooth and shiny. If those packaging are fake I guess they would throw them out before selling coz they are old already. Would anyone have any experience in this?

Hello! I just recently purchased this David Yurman bracelet and I am hoping to get a second opinion! I have purchased all my pieces from the store and never preloved. I purchased from the Tradesy website. Here is the link to the listing!

Thank you!!! 😊😊😊

I love this bracelet and almost purchased it myself. I thought it looked authentic, but am not an expert at Yurman (just started collecting). I was a little nervous when I noticed this seller has sold 5 of these exact bracelets. 😳

Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I use the app and never see what they have sold. I reported her to tradesy.... Something is definitely not right. That's what I get for not just buying at the store. Lol

Could you post a picture? It's a complex subject. The genuine "shiny" or "smooth" ones have an older type face. There are also some fake new smooth boxes because counterfeiters can't reproduce the embossed boxes.
