Paloma Picasso has not worked in platinum for several years but did at one point. She didn’t have a large selection in platinum but did a handful of pieces. These earrings were offered in a post like the one’s in the Yoogi's photo and also a clip post. I would need to see closer pictures of the markings to say if they are authentic but I don’t see any red flags right now by looking at them.
Thanks so much for the info Sadies! And thanks to PurseForum for redirecting me to this thread. I ended up returning the earrings since my wife didn't like it too much when seeing them in person. We did, however, end up keeping the Paloma Picasso loving heart pendant necklace (White gold w/ diamonds) also purchased from Yoogi's Closet as well.

Hi Sadie,

Can you please authenticate this small Peretti bean necklace for me please! There's several discrepancies in comparison with my current mini bean which I bought recently from the store, and I am really hoping that it's because the design is old. I asked the seller about its origins and she said that it had been a gift a few years back...

Issues:

1. The chain is 18 inches. I asked whether the seller had extended it, but she said no. Yet I thought it only comes in 16 inches as standard?

2. The bean measures more like 11mm across than 12mm, though admittedly the curvature makes it difficult to measure. However, my 9mm is quite definitely 9mm.

3. The curve of the bean looks different compared to my mini (the small looks more pointy imo):

4. The hallmarks on the back of the bean seem rather crude. Again, I'm hoping it's because it is an older piece... but this is still a concern.

5. The hallmarks around the clasp tag looks good to me, but the links seem not to be soldered as smoothly as I'd expect from Tiffany.

I've included a few key photos here, but there are lots more on my album here, because I wanted to give you the best possible view of it without seeing it in person :)

I think that Photobucket removed the zoom button, but Ctrl + seems to work well to zoom into the page/picture for a closeup.

Thanks so much for doing this!

No problem!

I don’t see any issues with the necklace and to me, it looks good. Based on the tag next to the clasp, this is a vintage small bean necklace. The 18 inch length is okay. The vintage bean necklace varied, they came in 16 and 18 inches. The markings on the back look good to me. Vintage pieces are not marked as sharp and neatly as today’s jewelry. The shape of the bean looks exactly as it should. Sometimes the jump rings next to the clasp may have a small ‘bump’ and not be completely round and smooth. This is normal and something you see in older pieces. I see no problems at all with the necklace- looks authentic to me.

That's fantastic news, thanks again :D

Incidentally, I don't suppose you know if the silver mix used for the mini bean and the chain is different? I think the bean has developed a slight patina whilst the chain is still lovely and white, which is strange because they've been exposed to the same conditions during wear.

Also, do you know how Tiffany made their vintage pieces, like did they use hand soldering and hallmark engraving? Is it because the techniques/machines are now more sophisticated that the links/jump rings and hallmarks are now smoother?

And would this have an impact on the strength of the chain (ie. would the older chains be weaker both due to age and poorer craftsmanship?).

The silver to my knowledge has not changed. I have quite a few Tiffany necklaces myself and do notice that some pendants seem to show more wear and tarnish then the chain. There is no difference in the silver used for necklaces like the Bean or the silver used for other jewelry items.

In terms of the hallmark engravings- today pieces are laser inscribed. Tiffany has laser inscribed jewelry for at least the past 25 years. Technology has come a long way so some of the older pieces, while still laser inscribed, may not be a s neat and exact as pieces today. Vintage jewelry was stamped with a plate. Tiffany produces a large amount of silver jewelry and its easier and less time consuming to make the jewelry by machine as opposed to have a technician hand make it. There would be no difference between a hand made/hand soldered piece versus a machine made piece but to save time, Tiffany uses a machine for most silver. There is no difference in the quality in hand soldered compared to machine. This should have no impact on the strength and quality of the jewelry.

Hi ladies, would you please help authentic this Tiffany necklace. It looks like real to me but I am not sure I am myself.

Thanks so much for your help!

Its hard to say. Most of the photo's the seller used were copied from another listing. The pictures that appear to be from the seller and of the actual necklace are not close up and do not show the areas that would need to be seen in order to authenticate it. If you can, I would ask the seller for close ups the actual necklace for sale.

Hi,
would someone be able to kindly take a look at this bracelet I have just received?
I bought it to match my Elsa Peretti Open heart necklace, and it was just advertised as a silver bracelet. Now it's arrived there is an Elsa Peretti signature on the last heart next to the toggle and I am wondering if this is actually an Elsa Peretti piece. I can't find pictures of a similar bracelet except on Ebay.
It is absolutely stunning :smile1:

Thank you so much Sadie! I will ask the seller for more close up pics to show.. don't understand why seller copied someone else photos for her own listing?!?!. So glad I asked for help here before bidding on it. Thanks again!!
