hey Sadie! thank you soo much for your advise and opinion! i really appreciate it!
i was also at first concerned about this one as when i was looking for it, there were 3 tiffany platinum horseshoe on ebay from diff reputable sellers and all had diff markings!!! this one was the same as the one from montecarloclub, the other 2 had diff markings in the back, one in the middle, the other on the side, but it was like a separate plate on top of the back of the horseshoe. and i understand marking the chain only is not enough and normally the pendant also gets marked. so while i dont get why tiffany changed the markings, i kind of feel better as montecarloclub would not sell fakes? also the seller assured me her ex-husband bought it online form tiffany and offered 100%money back. it feel totally tiffany, but i will try to go to a jeweler this weekend to put my mind at rest! :-) i am also happy to pay for authentication if you know where i can do it? i've done it before for a chanel bag only to put my mind at rest. but i cannot see anything similar for tiffany. do u know if http://www.mypoupette.com/authentication.php does it? i would take it to tiffany but what do i ask for? as i don't need it extended, its clean, so i cannot think the reason to give them to service it :-)

You could take it to Tiffany for a cleaning or send it to New York. Tiffany won’t service jewelry that is not their own. But if this tests for platinum (any jeweler could do this) I would say that is a sure sign its real. I have never seen a fake in platinum. One of the challenges with authenticating Tiffany is that some pieces have changed over time and with that lack of consistency, its not always easy to tell a fake from an authentic piece. I do not know of any website that authenticates Tiffany specifically. But as I mentioned, testing for platinum would be ideal here and should be free of charge.

The chain looks good to me but since I have not seen the horseshoe marked in that way before, I would hesitate to say one way or the other.

Hi TPFers,

I just got a Tiffany Multi Strand necklace in 18k gold. I'm wondering whether Tiffany would be willing to authenticate it? Has anyone ever brought their piece that was bought somewhere else and have them authenticate it?
I also attach some pictures if you ladies don't mind taking a look at them and tell me what you think.
The seller seems to be trustworthy but I just want to make sure I'm getting the real thing.
Thank you so much for your help :smile1:

You can't walk into Tiffany unfortunately, and ask for authentication, they won't do that. You could send it to New York to be cleaned or take it to your closest store. Tiffany won't clean anything that is not their own.

The toggle in the picture above is a little blurry. It would be helpful to see it clearly. The shape of the heart and general look of the necklace seem okay at this point, with no red flags. But to say for sure, it would be best to see the toggle markings and the toggle itself from a side view as clear as possible.

Thanks a lot Sadie! its boiling hot down-under (i am in melbourne), we have 10 day hot spill!!! so i cannot take it anywhere right now, but i submitted an inquiry to mypoupette, have nothing to loose and i dont mind paying to put my mind at rest. i will try to go to a jeweler next week (still have paypal 45 days if i have to exercise it!!!), and i will let you know what mypoupette says once they reply to me. in your opinion would mypoupette have expertize to authenticate tiffany? they advertise jewelery in general, so i hope that includes tiffany? i submitted photos and waiting for an invoice, it is my understanding if they send me an invoice - they are able to authenticate one way or another.

hi Ladies

found this on ebay. looks legit. what do you think? I don't recall ever seeing assay mark on the front on other Tiffanys before (just below the 925). have you ever seen one?

Hi, Thank you so much for your reply, I really appreciate it. I took my necklace to Tiffany's today to be repaired because I found one of the strand is almost broken. So they measured it, took pictures of it and just identifying it very closely for recording purpose. They did not say anything about it being fake, so can I safely assume that it is not fake. Right now the necklace is being sent to NY for repair and polishing, I will be receiving it in two weeks and they only charge me $25 for everything plus tax.
Do you think the customer service rep in Tiffany stores are knowledgable about Tiffany's fake?
Thank you again, I took some more pictures with my better camera I will post it later. The other pictures was taken by my iPhone so, that's the best that I can do.
I also bought some other pieces and will be posting pictures too:D

The majority of the sales reps in the Tiffany stores know the brand well. They have held and handled the jewelry so many times that as soon as the piece is placed in their hands, they know if its real or fake. If they are sending it to NY for you, that’s a very good sign that the necklace is authentic.

Can someone help me wit this bracelelt - I want to be sure it is a real Charles Revson Aldo Cipullo 18k Gold Plated Love bracelelt 1970 - I know it is the costume version of the original cartier love bracelet. I have never heard of one of the being counterfeited before but just want to be sure.

The reps at Tiffany should be knowledgable and should be able to spot a fake. But the fact that they accepted it and are sending it to NY is a good sign that it is in fact authentic.

I don't see anything wrong with this necklace, to me- it looks good. The UK marking does seem a little close to the Tiffany engravings but I don't see any red flags with it.
