I agree, GK. And thank you for weighing in. The Ostrich was the bag that bothered me the most but as you said perhaps it's poor workmanship....I don't put much weight on paperwork either as I know they don't count for much given what we've seen in the past with non-authentic bags and less-than-honest resellers.

Very well said, GK.

LVCHANELQUEEN......enjoy your bags.

MODS May I ask that we consider a change in this thread? That authenticators will help to authenticate POSSIBLE purchases only? Not bags/items already purchased?

And if there are issues with bags in other threads that need to be authenticated AFTER THE FACT it be done privately?

I'm not sure what anything said in public after the fact can possibly accomplish.....

I agree. I can't help but think that members who question the authenticity of a bag reveal are most likely the same members who authenticate in this thread.

Perhaps there is another way to address this issue as S'Mom suggests?

Not sure I understand what you mean. Or what S'Mom means for that matter.

I do know that if a person has a bag authenticated, purchases the bag and then puts it up for authentication again, I for one feel that I have looked at it and given my opinion on it already. I understand that some people are anxious that what they purchased on line, is indeed the same bag as the one that they were sent, but that is a whole other issue IMO. This thread would be clogged with re-do authenticating all day long.

If you are referring to bags that were revealed on a thread, and then a Mod requested the poster to post pix here on AT, then that is something that I think you need to discuss with the management of the site. It is the Mods/Management decision to go forward with things like this. People that work the thread do not make those decisions. We just look at what we are asked to look at. KWIM?

I fully appreciate S'Mom's intent here, and am supremely sympathetic. But I have a worry that extra rules might make what is really an internet blog just too cumbersome for people who are new and unfamiliar with our way of doing things. And then we keep having to say they are not following rules etc.

It is unpleasant to tell someone that what they have just bought on the internet via eBay or from a reseller could be fake, but I worry about doing it via PM.

The only thing I would really please request is that the format suggested be followed. And that people could be upfront about the situation.

Otherwise it is impossible to keep track of what has been looked at and what has not, and what sellers are involved etc.

GK....What I mean is that if someone out there wants to buy a bag and has not already purchased it but wants to have it authenticated first, then this be the place for that. NOT after the item has been purchased and THEN they want to know if they got the real deal or not.

I am happy to ignore those requests. But I think livethelake was suggesting that the people who authenticate here are also making decisions about whether or not to yank threads where there have been bags reported as being dubious or requiring additional verification as to authenticity.

As GK said, that is completely up to the mods and admins. Anyone can (and presumably does) report posts. And regrettably, there are a lot of people who "reveal" fake bags - some knowingly and some unwittingly.

My thought is that if someone has purchased a bag, and feels it may not be authentic after the sale, they are right to come here, using the proper format of course, and ask for authentication. At least it may give them some recourse with the seller and/or their credit card company.

If the bag was authenticated here before the sale, unless there are errors the buyer can point out that are different from the listing, I would expect the second request to be ignored.

OK, then I think I answered that. That is something for the resellers thread more than AT. It is also not fair to members who authenticate to get PM's to do this for people privately . We get many pm's that amount to private requests for authentication and hand holding.

AH! Ok.....I was confused. These old brain cells aren't working properly these days....LOL!

Yeah, I guess I could ignore the requests for authentication after the purchase has already been made.....

I'm just cranky today.....

Agree with first scenario and exactly for the second. It has been done already.

Though, I will say, I think the preference of those members working the thread is that this is not the case in scenario #1 So much better all around for these things to be spoken about prior to money changing hands. Gets a bit messy at that point.

S'Mom, you can ignore whatever you like:p No law here that says you have to comment if you don't feel like it.
