Agree with S'Mom.

Leaving the pictures of the bag itself aside, which are off, if you look at the picture of the model with the bag you will see it is not even the one in the auction. She has what appears to be a 35cm with Palladium and they are trying to sell a 40cm with Gold.

OMGosh you're right didn't even notice that thanks so much Bababebi!

Thank you all for the posts of support.

I have worked for a lot of years on these AT threads as an authenticator and lately a moderator, and more than scammers and fakesters, what irritates me is people coming on here and disrespecting the authenticators, and I am not speaking of any poster in paticular at this point.

I realize that from time to time some of the authenticators can feel at their wits end and and even be short with a poster in a way that seems impolite, particularly to someone who does not spend a lot of time in this thread, or in Hermes generally, and this is also something that we can all work on together. And I hope we will. :flowers:

And sometimes authenticators veer a little bit off topic -- releasing tension with talk of martinis or a joke here and there; I understand the frustrations and I am not going to get all exercised over a picture of martini glasses or a little bantering, as long as it is not at anybody's expense, is short lived, and not insulting. That is where I am at with it as someone who has been here a lot. If other mods feel differently I yield of course.

*****

But I AM NOT GOING TO TOLERATE any disrespect for any authenticator on this board from anybody. I am going to make it a point to check this thread more frequently and please PM me if there are any shenanigans or outbreaks of nonsense here.

As a group we have saved people hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of dollars, and yet have endured endless jibes, taunts, insults and diatribes.

Authenticators have burned out and left, some not to return, because people who came on here and taunted and insulted them.

No longer. I hope everybody plays nice on this board from now on.

But...consider this a warning to anyone who comes on here with an agenda other than to get authentication of an Hermes bag: :rtr: This is not the place for you.

And I also dont care if you call us out on your blogs, other forums, or websites. I know there are plenty of lurkers out there who have nothing better to do than write about what a crappy job we do, and make snarky comments about our posts and snippets they think they know about our personal lives. Yawn. I don't give a rip about what you think of the job we do here. None of you have come on here to do it better, and for the moment, I am satisfied that we are doing our best and that more often then not we have saved people money, and more importantly, heartbreak and that is good enough for me.

I think that is good enough for for most of us, actually.

SO.........KNOW THIS:

We will ALWAYS err on the side of caution, and we will ALWAYS steer people away from an auction if we are not comfortable with its ENTIRETY, including seller history.

We WILL discuss pricing within certain parameters, such as if a markup is high or condition questionable. This is one of the AT areas on the forum where such discussion is appropriate.

We WILL discuss seller history or point people to toolhaus, goofbay, or the resellers thread.

We WILL do everything we can to make sure that our opinions are sound, but in the end they are only opinions, and I will not allow authenticators to get beaten up because someone does not agree with their opinions.

That is how it is, and if a seller cannot handle that, do not list Hermes items. Period.

:excl: And if you come here, and dont like what you hear, send me a PM and lay off the authenticators.

OK....lets see some bags

if you asked me what is the most thing you hate in your life i will tell you (arguing) if i spelled it right , sorry english is not my first language, anyway , i see lots of silly , funny, out of topics quotes in here from authenticators, this was my only ever note that i posted out of topic , and would be my last !
even at church ppl would say something funny , but i am sorry that you took it this way , AND NO I WAS NOT RUDE .u just made me look like an idiot here .

POE, you missed the next post by CB, which I believe is even more important than the first. I copied it for your benefit...

You posted as a goof, CB was very gracious and gave you a pass and you :hs: on her good nature. ESL or not, CB didn't make you look like and idiot.....and the above bolding is mine, not hers. If you can't follow the nature of the thread, better to lurk and learn.

OK. Well I in no way intended for you to look like an idiot. When you posted the link, I thought it was an actual request and asked that you not do that. yes, sometimes we get off topic but it usually doesnt cause any one to have to look off the PF at a bag, KWIM, thats the difference.

Anyway, I understand that english is not your first language, and a lot of communication gets mixed up when using the internet rather than speaking face to face, so I would like to move on from here and hope we can put this to rest now.

I will take you at your word that you intended no rudeness and hope you will do the same.

peaceonearth, we all are amazed at some of the ugly fake bags we see...this is a great place to post them and make comments

I do not see any red flags in the pictures, I think this is authentic. Looks like Togo to me. Seller seems to be reputable. Has sold Hermes before.

Price is such a subjective matter, I think the seller has a fair price at present and also invites offers. I would suggest you search completed listings on eBay to get an idea.

Thanks very much for your kind help, Bababebi. Would you mind taking a few moments to look at that other graphite Hermes Birkin that I posted a couple of days ago please? I would like to get as much opinion from you experts as I can.
Thanks very much in advance.

A great post, CobaltBlue. Thank you, and all for a good work. I had rocky starts at this thread myself, but I really respect all the effort and knowledge of the authenticators. All of us who come here to SERIOUSLY learn or ask fo advice are grateful!!! :flowers::hugs:

bababebi: If I see correctly this bag was listed twice, with two different seller, the other being htbbc- at least some of the photos of the listing (the link provided lower) correspond. I think its the same bag. Should this be reported? This one has been on ebay for some time already....

Very sharp eyes indeed, Bababebi............... The picture of the bag with a lady holding it has actually been stolen..............I know the lady in the picture, and her bag is 35cm PHW............

Thanks very much in advance.

As I recall, mistikat recommended a few days ago that you get additional pictures from the seller of this bag.

Thanks S'Mom but unfortunately someone bought it with buy it now before I could even report it. Poor soul I hope they can get their money back. Btw are there a few pointers to tell a fake? I really appreciate all your help.

Welcome to tPF. The best way to learn about how an authentic bag looks is by studying the pictures of real ones, becoming familiar with how they look, and training your eye.

Luckily for all of us, there are many pictures in this forum of beautiful authentic bags. You can be confident that the bags pictured here are authentic, so look away to your hearts content! There is also the Report a Fakes Thread for comparison purposes!!

And you are welcome here to ask for authentication.

Just coming here to say that people asking for help need to be polite and respectful. I am not saying it does not go both ways, but I find it a bit baffling that someone would come to ask for someone else's help/knowledge/expertise and then be rude to the same person they are asking a service from.

So let's follow the format to make things easier on the authenticators and be NICE. If you give niceness I bet you will get it back
