I have read LightPinkDaisy's post as well. Thank you, very much/

Now you should DEFINITELY not bid.

The world is full of bad people unfortunately, we just do what we can to stay on the side of the right and the good.

This bag looks authentic to me.

I agree that the letter initially pictured in the listing was quite border line, and I know that this seller has somehow a twisted selling history, as well as some kind of twisted history here in tpf.

BUT : this bag does not look like a fake to me. That is not such a bad start - I would verify a few things with seller, though.
1- make sure they actually have the item in their possession : ask for specific pictures . Ask the pictures to be sent by email to you so you'll get them high resolution.
2-make sure Seller agrees to accept a return if you are not satisfied with the bag, for any reason. (not if the bag is not authentic, because no one is going to ever write you a letter of NON authenticity)
Set up an agrement of 3 days or so after delivery , so you have time to take the bag to Hermes for a check.
And have seller write this agrement in their ebay listing.

If this seller is willing to make an honest deal, they will most probabely accept.

That beein said, make sure you pay by paypal,( if you have a confirmed address) and respect all the terms on your side.

I think it is worth a try if you DO like this bag.

my 0.02.

I am so confused here how some people can say the bag is fake and others say it is real. I am not familiar with H yet, but I did frequent the LV "auth this" and also authenticated there for a while.
Of course there were always the "newbies" stating their opinion and perhaps being wrong, but never did a senior authenticator say something was fake without being 100% sure. I understand that the authenticators are providing a free service and giving up tons of their time to do so, but when we are talking about 10k bags, this is a big deal if someone jumps the gun here. Telling someone DO NOT bid on this bag because its fake, and then someone else comes along and says its real. This can really harm the sales of these sellers. If you arent 100% sure, why is there a need to say its fake? I truely hope this is not some type of personal attack against the seller for her "history" which I dont think anyone has any proof of any wrong doing. I understand that we are looking out for fellow tPFers here, but sometimes I feel it may go too far. I know this is not going to be a popular post, and most likely ignored, but I couldnt help but say something.

My original call on this bag was authentic. Please read post #4502. I never posted that it was fake.
What I did post is a conclusion about the sellers credibility based on previous posts by other authenticators relating to other bags that this seller has had for sale in the past under another seller id. I was previously unaware of her former id. Perhaps this was hasty on my part. I also had doubts because as I did state, I have never seen a letter like the one posted in the auction, so to me it was a warning sign.

As you correctly point out, we are dealing with lots of money here. I posted a conclusion to avoid the auction. If you authenticated on the LV forum you will know that sometimes it is more than just the bag at issue.

You point out that you told buyers to stay away from the bag since you have never seen a letter like that. As we all know, even if a seller has a "receipt" that does not hold any credit as there are fake receipts or a real receipt can be included with a fake bag. The bag itself should be the only physical thing an authenticator looks at, not what accessories come with the bag. No? Also, the seller has over 200 positive feedback with previous birkin sales.. should that not speak for itself?

More subtle scams show up with pricy brand-name bags. Also, there's one more issue when buying H bags.

I'd been promiscuous in terms of brand-name bags, and have noticed this: H bags are artwork of various craftsmen, thus, even authentic, show more variation than other brand-name bags.

I am one of them who love H bags because they are stunning piece of art, and demand the bags more than just being authentic. I want a bag that takes breath out of the people with most critical eyes. So, I value our authenticators' opinions whether they be excited about the bag or not.

From that point of view, I do not see anything misleading in our authenticators' comments when they advice us not to bid.

In addition, real receipt does not make fake bags real, but fake letters imply there's some thing stinky behind the bag. And I believe that's what Bababebi kindly pointed out.

Sorry, this might be OT. Hope I don't get detention (again).

Well, no, I always look at the auction as a whole. It is a chance for the seller to present themselves and their bag and contains very valuable info. Receipts are no indication of authenticity for sure. However if there is a picture of a receipt and it is a fake receipt that would make me look harder at the auction.

In this case I had never heard of the certificate presented by the seller so it was an unusual sign, something to call your attention.

I always look at a sellers feedback on eBay. I also always check to see if there is history here with our little group on tPF. Perhaps a bag did NOT get sold because it was called Fake. Then there would be no eBay feedback.

Although eBay feedback carries over, in this case the seller has recently changed seller id, and I did not check her prior eBay id history on tPF until I was made aware of it after I had called the bag authentic.

I found that in the past, senior authenticators called her bags fake. And that there had been other discussions. That to me is an indication that all is not smooth sailing with this seller. Does not mean this particular bag is not authentic.

So, I think that anyone who is thinking of bidding should have the whole picture, not just parts of the picture. We are all adults and should make our own decisions based on all of the information available. If one person reads it and thinks about it and decides to go ahead and bid, then they are doing so in full knowledge of all factors which could have a bearing on the likelihood of the sale being concluded successfully for both parties.

I am someone who is very conservative so I cannot say tranquilly that I recommend the seller having read what I did. You are entitled to feel differently, but at least you know.

Perlerare made some excellent suggestions about how a buyer could protect themselves in this auction. I truly hope that anyone who bids follows them.

Peaceonearth I appreciate your concern in this. However it is rare that one can be 100% sure of anything by looking at a picture, we do the best we can.

This is the internet, so it is imperfect for all of us unfortunately.

I suggest, gently, really, that you will find it less stressful if you buy from the Hermes Boutique. Plus there is no duplicate for the wonderful experience of the Salesperson bringing out your bag in her own box and unwrapping it just for you. No other purchase experience can compare.
