A quick reminder to the lovely posters here :

We are here to help BUYERS.

We do make decisions.....we only give opinions and eventually advices.
We are all different, we have different backgrounds, experiences, and confort zones.

You point out that you told buyers to stay away from the bag since you have never seen a letter like that. As we all know, even if a seller has a "receipt" that does not hold any credit as there are fake receipts or a real receipt can be included with a fake bag. The bag itself should be the only physical thing an authenticator looks at, not what accessories come with the bag. No? Also, the seller has over 200 positive feedback with previous birkin sales.. should that not speak for itself?

Even this is not true. We have seen some very convincing auctions, from sellers with good feedback from other luxury brands, that are not authentic. We also frequently see stolen photos. That is why the authenticators look at seller history. I am not commenting on this seller, just stating the fact...there is more behind the auction than the photos...and with these amounts of money at stake, it is wise to be diligent.

Authenticators can only give opinions, nothing more. If we advise caution, it is for a good reason. It doesnt always mean the bag is 100% fake. But it does mean to be careful. There are large sums of money involved here. Unfortunately, blue jean and etoupe bags are the most often faked....and to make matters worse, they are also seem to be the bags that seem to have been the most quickly produced by Hermes the last few seasons, meaning that we cannot always count on craftsmanship to be the final determiner of authenticity.

So, in the end, the volunteer authenticators in this and every forum do their best based on ALL of the information they are able to gather.

Thank you, this is very well put. You have to have a certain risk tolerance, mine is high for scarves and low for bags.....its a jungle out there....

Peaceonearth I appreciate your concern in this. However it is rare that one can be 100% sure of anything by looking at a picture, we do the best we can.

This is the internet, so it is imperfect for all of us unfortunately.

I suggest, gently, really, that you will find it less stressful if you buy from the Hermes Boutique. Plus there is no duplicate for the wonderful experience of the Salesperson bringing out your bag in her own box and unwrapping it just for you. No other purchase experience can compare.

there is a difference between saying something is fake and advising caution or to stay away. Your concerns are vaild, and we do try to be as certain as we can.....

Again, I am not addressing this seller in particular, but honestly the scams we have seen would blow your mind.

Sellers who come on here and swear up and down that their bags are real, from celebrity friends...and then we discover them buying in bulk from china.

We do not want you to part with your money only to find heartbreak in the box.....

I am so confused here how some people can say the bag is fake and others say it is real. I am not familiar with H yet, but I did frequent the LV "auth this" and also authenticated there for a while.
Of course there were always the "newbies" stating their opinion and perhaps being wrong, but never did a senior authenticator say something was fake without being 100% sure. I understand that the authenticators are providing a free service and giving up tons of their time to do so, but when we are talking about 10k bags, this is a big deal if someone jumps the gun here. Telling someone DO NOT bid on this bag because its fake, and then someone else comes along and says its real. This can really harm the sales of these sellers. If you arent 100% sure, why is there a need to say its fake? I truely hope this is not some type of personal attack against the seller for her "history" which I dont think anyone has any proof of any wrong doing. I understand that we are looking out for fellow tPFers here, but sometimes I feel it may go too far. I know this is not going to be a popular post, and most likely ignored, but I couldnt help but say something.
