I would appreciate if I could get this authenticated. In a very nice gesture, my husband bought this for me for my birthday. I have two other Ergo hobos like this and he knows they are two of my favorite bags, he knew I wanted a red one and found this for me. I was thrilled at first to get it but then I noticed on the inside the leather around the seams is white like it wasn't dyed at all and the back of the creed pocket had splashes of dye. I wondered about the creed also and that prompted me to do some research on the X plant. I didn't find much info but I did find an old thread from 2012 with whateve and hyacinth discussing a red bag in this style with an X plant code and the same year of 1995. The conclusion was that this style was not made until 1997. (I'm not sure how to link it).
I will also include pictures of the creed and the inside of the bag as these are not included in the listing.
I haven't had the heart yet to tell my husband of my suspicions [emoji51]

It was a very nice thing for your husband to do, but I'm afraid he spent his money on a fake. Not only was the X plant code questionable for any US plant although there's a slight chance it might have been what we call a "floater", but as you read in that 2012 post, the 1995 date code in it is 2 years before that Ergo style was even introduced. The invalid date code is solid proof that it's fake.

The whitish leather is also found in genuine bags but only right at the seams, Coach often shaved the already-dyed leather down to make it easier to stitch the seams together.

I hope he can get his money back.

Thank you Hyacinth. We will work on trying to get a refund today.
