COACH Vintage Brown Leather Tote BAG Purse Brass Tone Hardware 7DH-4065 USA Made

The hang tag is fake but the bag is authentic. The transposition of the month and year codes is a legitimate error that Coach made.

I'm concerned about the creed in that one. The serial number details are almost identical to the genuine ones I've found from 1996 and early 1997 although the H plant code seems a tiny bit smaller than it should be, but the creed stamp itself worries me. It still has the old "Made In..." line at the bottom and the "scars, scratches..." wording but 1997 is at least a year after every other creed I've looked at changed over to the new wording. That COULD be why it ended up being sold through the factory outlets, but it's a discrepancy that someone might question if you decide to sell it. It's probably genuine but it has a mistake that shouldn't be there.

Here's another D7H- for comparison, first pic. And one from my files where the creed, serial number and all fonts are identical to the one being asked about including the flipping of the month and year codes but with a 1995 production date - thats the most recent H plant date with the old creed other than the bag in question that I've been able to find. The third photo is of the creed in the Light Tote style 4065 being asked about. (I'm wondering if the year code was misstamped in the Light Tote too, 1997 seems too recent to still have been making that style especially with the industrial-style zipper - industrial zippers kind of defeat the whole purpose of a Lightweight-line bag. Maybe it was MFF? It's not even in any of the catalogs after mid-1995.

To me the creed DOES look identical to the '95 one from what I can see of the '97 one.
Maybe the year date was misstamped, but did that happen very often for the year?
I have taken a chance. I would not be reselling anyway, I use my bags and would definitely use this one (if it's not too soft).
I haven't bid much anyway.
Thanks for all the info, amazing.

In 1995, when the error occurred, the creed wording is correct, but in 1997, the wording would have been different. There are known situations when the year was misstamped. This isn't one of them, but I imagine it could have happened and we would never know, if everything else was consistent with the style and wording. I think there is a good chance yours is authentic, but as Hyacinth said, you might lose a case if you were to sell it.

About 7 or 8 years ago give or take there was a style either made for or that ended up at the outlets where one of the year code was a year off. Several members posted that they'd bought them like that from one of the Factory stores. I can see it happening in one of the China plants which was the case here because of the different dating system but 2 years off from what should have been a US plant would be really hard to explain.

I bought this without authentication and I don't know about the date for the style or the long strap or the industrial zipper (which does say YKK, HAH, but not Talon). Have received it and it is thick leather and seems a fine bag.
Barely used.
Don't yell too loud if I got scr---- !
