I bought this without authentication and I don't know about the date for the style or the long strap or the industrial zipper (which does say YKK, HAH, but not Talon). Have received it and it is thick leather and seems a fine bag.
Barely used.
Don't yell too loud if I got scr---- !

Thanks!
It looks good to me. I didn't realize there was a reissue of this style. I've never seen this style with a strap. I don't know if it was added later or if it came with the bag. The zipper manufacturer doesn't matter. Is it brown or burgundy?

It's brown and very nice, lovely. I think Hyacinth wrote about a 1997 re-issue of the slim satchel.
The strap matches color exactly and is well made, but seems like a lightweights type buckle.
Oh, yeah about the zipper (was a joke that it is YKK) but it is a big industrial type.
Does look slightly reddish in sunlight. Good looking bag.

I wish I had a strap for mine.

Here's the comment on a thread I copied, wondering about the 1997 date. Problem is I didn't
copy the thread number or whose quote it was! Had to do with a possible reissued Stewardess.
"But -
Coach resurrected several of its retired styles including the Stewardess 9525, the Classic Shoulder Bag 9170, the Casey Bag 9923, the Compact Slim Satchel 9425, the Large Saddle Pouch 9585 and a few others I can't find at the moment as "Catalogue Exclusives" in Fall and Winter 1997, so although those styles mostly never made in into the 1990s in their original incarnation, Coach DID bring a few of the older styles back from the dead at least one time before the current "Classics". But a Stewardess Bag marked 1995 is definitely El Fake-o, sorry."

Strap does have to be hooked on the handle hardware and then the handles don't lay too snugly against the bag, so I wonder too.

Someone found a strap to match and it's only clipped to the handle mounting hardware, not the side of the bag. That will cause wear on the base of the leather handles eventually. It also makes the bag harder to carry by the long strap since the shorter the space is between the strap ends, the shorter the comfortable cross-body length becomes, if that makes any sense. The serial number and creed look ok, it may have been a catalog-only or MFF item.

I didn't realize that about the shortness of the space between the strap ends, but it makes sense. My mini Prestons have the strap attachments right behind the handle attachments rather than on the sides.

Trust me, the more zaftig someone is, the less comfortable those close-set strap ends get when carried as a crossbody. They really can put the squeeze on the "girls" if you know what I mean. And I am definitely zaftig so that booby-crush is very familiar to me. That kind of strap attachment for me is a no-go. It's also much harder to get into the bag unless you actually take it off your shoulder.

Yeah strap does not work all that well on it and yes the space matters a lot for comfort. It's a shame because the strap and lobster claws (?) are brand new too and matches perfectly in color and leather. But yes I can see how it would start to stretch the leather holding the hardware and knock the handles out of alignment eventually. I might use it rarely now and then anyway though.
Also looks like a Lightweights buckle on the strap?
The bag is not a Lightweights BY FEEL, it is heavy; leather is thick. It's gorgeous, nearly new.
Love it, wow, MFF or not. But did kind of hope it would be as burgundy as picture!

Thanks Ladies!!!!

LOL! Don't get me started, that is NOT one of my limitations (finally considered a limitation)!!!!! It will have to be shoulder if I ever use it even for me.
