Did your mother buy it online? Or did the person who gave the gift to your mother buy it from ebay or another online seller?

It looks good to me.

Beware that several of the newer styles are extremely well faked so you have to be very careful.

Thank you so much for your response.

We really aren't sure where the bag was bought since it's a gift and my mom's shy to ask. :( I just trusted the idea that it was from her best friend and that her best friend wouldn't give her a fake Coach.

I have another question... does the creed look authentic? Even if it didn't say which country it was made from? And instead of "bag" it's "accessory"? Many thanks!!!

Please verify this bag. I've seen other bags like this with a buttoned strap. The seller emailed me that the original strap is not included. How would I go about searching or buying one?

Listing:
Coach VTG Kelly #6701 RARE Clutch Black Leather Top Handle Bag Bridle Satchel
Seller: beautifulhousecolorful
Item number: 282430107092
Link: http://m.ebay.com/itm/Coach-VTG-Kel...dle-Satchel-/282430107092?nav=WATCHING_ACTIVE

There's a brown one with original strap for less if you're interested.

The bag is genuine but you'll NEVER find a replacement strap like the original unless you find another style 6701, because not only didn't Coach ever make replacement straps for that style, but because the strap runs all the way underneath the flap and the ends just snap together. There's no other way to attach a strap, and there's no way you'd ever find another one like it.

I'd strongly suggest waiting until you find a bag in that style that includes the original strap. The pics in the listing in Houseof999's post show how that strap was attached.
Just a warning about the seller of the listing in houseof999's post.

A few days ago, that seller was posted on the Hall of Shame with SEVEN fakes:

Yes, the creed looks good. Creeds and labeling change and your bag should have a "made in" label sewn into a seam in the main compartment of the bag.

  • If the bag in question is not on an auction site, please use the following:

Item Name (if you know it):
    Link (if available):
Then attach any photos (all authentication must include photos.)
    • Please be sure to include a clear readable photo of the creed stamp and serial number from inside the bag or accessory if there is one, and the bag's measurements when the bag is an older or vintage leather Coach.
    • Since mid-2014, Coach stopped putting serial numbers on creeds so in newer bags where the creeds don't have serial numbers, we also need to see pictures of the labels/tags from inside the bag. They are either both in the main open part sewn into the seam of the lining, or one might be buried deep inside the zipper pocket. One shows where made and the other has a serial number.
