My guess would be that it was only made within one or two years on either side of the 1978 date, since it's not in my 1976 or 1981 catalogs or in what's probably just a partial 1979 catalog (the ones from the 70s are really just small folding booklets, "catalog" is too grand a name for them.)

By the 1983 catalog page I've shown below, that style had been "upgraded" to the two Shoulder Pouches, the larger one of which became the Station Bag.

Almost all the vintage bags had a 2-piece hangtag made of two halves glued together. It's not a problem, our rehabbers at the Rehab and Rescue thread usually just glue them back together again.

OOHHH I want one of these, the smaller ones!
I don't think I've seen one on ebay, are they pretty scarce?

I think I've seen one a year or two ago.

Sorry, I looked through everything I have and still can't find it.

It looks like it should be from the early or middle 90s though, the trim is like the Sheridans and there's an interior detail that means it probably isn't any newer than the late 90s. I just don't have it in any of my catalogs.

ETA - I just compared it to one of my Sheridan Wallets - Sheridan French Purse, style 4302 - and all the details are exactly the same except mine isn't stamped Made In Italy, and the widths of the leather trim around the edge is just a bit wider on the woven one. Even the corners are finished off the same, and it has the same lining. So it's possibly a variation of a Sheridan, which would put it from around 1992 to 1995. We can probably think of it a Sheridan Woven Leather French Purse until the actual name turns up.

Thank you so much for "digging" for this one...I always appreciate you time and efforts!

This is super pretty!

Thanks...my FIRST Sheridan...YAY!

Hi everyone & Good day to You all!

I have two black leather bags (my own finds) that I wanted to be sure were authentic.

First one is this tote measuring about 12" tall x 16 across the top x about 4.5 deep with a 12.5 strap drop. 576-5744 is stamped on the creed-USA. The style name/number would be great if it's authentic:

The second is a drawstring bag measuring 10" tall x 6" deep across the round bottom by about 10" across the top (lying flat). The numbers are very shallow on this one.. Oh My Eyes!!!, but I can make out "United States". Style name/number would be great on this one too if it's real:

The first one is a Light Tote, style 4065 from the Lightweight line, probably from the early 1990s.

The second one is a Bixby Sling, style 9984. I can't see the year code but the style is from the mid-1990s, maybe 1996-97. They both look genuine.

So is there a difference in the shoulder pouch vs station bag? I guess I could get off my behind and measure mine but it looks like the size is a little different but it looks pretty much the same otherwise.

Hello. Please could someone kindly authenticate this bag?

Item: Black shoulder bag
Seller: Beyond Retro
Link: http://www.beyondretro.com/en/women...lack-with-multiple-compartmentse00138879.html

Thank you!

It looks genuine. The seller's measurements don't match the ones in Coach's catalogs (Coach's are a bit larger), but it depends on how the bag was measured and Coach always seemed to be a bit vague on that subject.

It was called a Brighton Bag, style number 9895, and would have been made some time in the very early 1990s.

I've never seen one of the early Shoulder Pouches in person, but there may have been some changes in small details like the inside pocket and where the creed was stamped. I'm not sure if the early ones even HAD an inside pocket, it's not mentioned in the 1983 catalog and some early ones we've seen here had the creed stamped on the back panel of the underflap pocket, didn't they? The basic measurements stayed the same.

That's great thank you Hyacinth!

Thank you for checking that for me. It must be fun to have all those catalogues. Very cool to see how this particular style evolved. The back half of the tag is missing : (
