I do have one more request. I purchased a wallet from another seller as well. There were only two photos posted, but I can take additional photos if you let me know what to look for. I have owned Coach bags before, but never a wallet.

Here is the original link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201044711712?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2648&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Thanks again!

I took a few photos of what looks important. One of the snaps doesn't appear perfectly centered. I didn't know if that was a red flag.

It looks good.
It looks good to me too.

Thanks for your help...
Here's another one which has the similar look, but the pattern of C is a bit different :

Which one is the authentic one....?
Both are authentic.

The pattern placement is slightly different because the fabric was cut with the pattern higher or lower on one than the other, but the centering and alignment is correct on both.

There would be a huge amount of time and waste involved if Coach made it a point to have the pattern at exactly x-number of inches from the top zipper. Not only would the waste of materials be frivolous, but the time and materials involved would make the cost prohibitive.

thanks so much for your explanation :)

Hi, I just found this forum and was hoping you gals/guys could help me out. I found a couple of Coach purses at the Salvation Army today. I bought one, I figured even if it was a fake for $30 I couldn't go wrong since I love the style and colour.

The other one is $50 so I wanted to try and find out if it was "real" before shelling out that much for a purse. The clerk is willing to hold it for me until Monday so I have to make up my mind before then whether I should get it or not.

Hopefully this link will work. I should have gotten more pictures but there was a huge line of people behind me.

I'm pretty sure it's this bag - Coach Penelope Leather Shopper White Toffee, the tag inside the bag says No.L1049-F14686. I can't remember if this bag had the tab or not, but both bags appeared to be brand new, they were spotless inside and out.

Here is an online listing for the "same" bag. The one I saw today looked identical to my eyes. :smile1: But then I have never bought a Coach bag before.

Since you already have the first one, please post a picture of the creed patch inside the bag.

Both seem to be okay so far, but in the future, the minimum we need to see is the full front and the creed.

Interesting! I don't think I've ever seen those symbols on the clips. I've seen those shorter tabs on some Basic bags - there seems to be quite a variation in the shape and size of these. Of my two burgundy basic bag with the glued-in serial numbers, one has longer tabs and one has shorter tabs like yours. Due to the glued-in serial number, I date it between 1978 and 1982. If the serial numbers were assigned in order, the one with the longer tabs would be older, and yours would be newer than either of mine.

From what I've seen so far, serial numbers weren't assigned in order.

Here's a better picture of the front of the bag I bought and the creed inside.

The other bag had an identical creed, just a different style number.

Thanks so much for your help! :)

The gold one looks fine.

Although the creeds probably looked similar, they wouldn't be identical because they have different serial numbers, are different types of leather and may have had different text.

Again, the think the Penelope bag is okay but it's the details of the creed that help us authenticate it. By "details," I mean the font, imprint pressure, spacing, text, stitching, etc.
