Of my two burgundy basic bag with the glued-in serial numbers, one has longer tabs and one has shorter tabs like yours. Due to the glued-in serial number, I date it between 1978 and 1982. If the serial numbers were assigned in order, the one with the longer tabs would be older, and yours would be newer than either of mine.

Thanks, whateve! The marks on the clips are indeed a mystery, but the hangtag chain does say "BALL CHAIN". She's pretty beat up, and there's a piping issue, but the price was right...YAY, I have a burgundy bag!

Hi, whateve -

I have an "H" code creed from August of 1998 - it's from an authentic Whitney Flap. Note that the prefix still has the lowered "H" and the long hyphen, almost touching the "H":

I took a few photos of what looks important. One of the snaps doesn't appear perfectly centered. I didn't know if that was a red flag.

My basic bag with the cracked strap has the same markings in the same place. Anchors on the side too. If you need pics for reference let me know.

In my catalog picture, the zipper pull looks a different shape but they may have changed it by the time this bag was made since my catalog picture is from 1997. I don't think the 1997 version had the word "Coach" on the zipper pull. The creed looks perfect. I think it is probably authentic.
