Thanks!
Both bags look fine.

Thank you both. Your time and expertise is appreciated as always.

Thank you Whateve!! I thinking I may just go for it. If I end up needing dye, so be it.....but hopefully I won't.

The construction looked okay from the pictures she sent me, but the creed looked iffy. The numbers looked a little too deeply stamped and then there's the almost neat frame. I know I would not have questioned it a few months ago, but I'm learning a lot from reading all the posts. I'm glad she let me consult with you ladies first. Thank you whateve for the thoughtful analysis.
You're welcome!:D

We've determined that 1999 H plant bags are most likely fake. This one has a 1998 year code. I don't have any proof that the H plant was operational in 1998, but I have a bag from August 1997 from that plant so it is possible it was still open in January 1998. January is a little early for nickel hardware for this style. The font isn't correct for an H plant. What bothers me most is the frame (the dents) around the numbers. True overstamping marks show the bottom and tops of the next numbers on the roll, so above the 8 you would see a dot for the bottom of the 7, etc. I don't see any construction errors in the pictures you've provided, but I think it is fake due to the creed.

Another problem is the Coach logo at the top of the creed. The font is totally wrong for a 1998 bag, since Coach had started replacing that "fat" font beginning in the early 1990s. No genuine 1998 bag should have been using that creed stamp.
ETA - Sample bags might be one exception to that. But that stamped impression like a border all around the serial number doesn't seem to appear in sample bags either. It looks like the C plant may have been using an older creed with a thicker font too.

All the H creeds in my files, going back to 1995, don't have that thicker logo.

Could someone please authenticate this Coach Leatherware bag?
Bought on ebay, arrived today...needs TLC desperately!
Approx. 11”w x 7”h x 2”d strap drop 17”
I'm guessing Basic Bag #9455, yes?
Interesting that strap attachment tab is shorter and more square than my other Basic Bags, but like a Compact Pouch "cousin" Hyacinth dated from the mid-70's. And I can't identify the marks on the dogleash clips...not exactly anchors.

Any info is always appreciated...particularly age, if possible. Thanks in advance!

Hello Hello, It is a burgundy (and red) kind of day.

I have two from Costa Rica I'd like feedback on:

1) Is this Bleecker authentic?

Item: COACH HANDBAG DEEP BURGANDY " BLEEKER " 9309 LEATHER HANDBAG GREAT BUY!!

Ebay item#:271423207816

Ebay seller:http://www.ebay.com/usr/bishopsbunch

Ebay URL:http://www.ebay.com/itm/271423207816?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

2) I purchased this Bonnie Legacy Satchel yesterday afternoon. (It was that or stress eat Kirkland Chocolates ) In my defense I did a quick search of previous tPF posts and found a reference to the same code, links here: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-818914-323.html (see post #4843) and here: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-818914-432.html posts # 6473 & #6475)

Even so,the serial number looks handtooled...thoughts and reassurance would be greatly appreciated. :smile1:

Interesting! I don't think I've ever seen those symbols on the clips. I've seen those shorter tabs on some Basic bags - there seems to be quite a variation in the shape and size of these. Of my two burgundy basic bag with the glued-in serial numbers, one has longer tabs and one has shorter tabs like yours. Due to the glued-in serial number, I date it between 1978 and 1982. If the serial numbers were assigned in order, the one with the longer tabs would be older, and yours would be newer than either of mine.

Both bags look authentic. The Bonnies had that weird font on the creed.
