Hello, All! Wonder if anyone has any idea when this scarf is from and whether it's authentic. Thanks so much.

It looks like a Shoulder Pouch Small from the early to mid 1980s, style 5120
I do love these catalog pics! Especially the color listings--so informative. "Tabac" must be a charcoal or tobacco shade--does anyone have a bag in this color?

Also "mocha" -- I have a saddle pouch that I thought was British tan but as it is a little more brown, less golden, maybe it is mocha? Hyacinth, can you tell? I am attaching a pic of the bag with a British Tan Coach belt for comparison.

Thanks!

I do rehab when I can find decent bags. When I lived near Chicago, I found lots of stuff at Goodwill to rehab, enjoy for awhile, and then resell. We moved to Texas a few months ago, and there is nothing at the thrift stores for a reasonable price. Total bummer! I found so many nice things in Chicago: lots of Coach, Dooney, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, a Tod's D Bag, lots of Brooks Brothers and Burberry ties. When I finally go back to visit, I think I'm going to bring an empty suitcase with the hopes of filling it up with thrift store goodies to take home!

Wow!! That's funny how good finds are so regional. I live near NYC. You would think there would be tons of great designer stuff at goodwill, but there really isn't. : (

Yep, most of California is a thrift wasteland too. Part of it is that the Goodwills and other thrifts sell the good stuff online.

It can be a real drag going in there knowing you aren't going to find anything. There is a coach or two in a case, but nothing that interests me. My only real options are eBay and 'that' consignment store.

Hahaha we all need to move to Florida! The next time I'm down there visiting my mom you can be sure I'll hit up all of the Goodwill stores I can find. :smile1:

Here is a chart showing all three colors. Mocha looks like mahogany to me.

I don't believe that's a Coach scarf. There aren't any Coach markings on the scarf itself. I believe the label is a fake label. The font and logo are wrong. It looks as though someone half-sewed a fake Coach label onto a generic scarf.

Yes, I've lost my enthusiasm. I only find things when I travel and, even then, it's hit or miss. Two of my favorites were lucky thrift finds, but one of those I could have found on ebay for about the same price.

If I need a coach fix I usually end up at the consignment store. Some coach bags are out with security tags, so at least you can really look at them. The prices aren't as cheap as goodwill though.

Oh my gosh that is SO cool. Those colors are from the late 80's?
I was completely wrong about Tabac AND Mocha.
And now I have no idea what color my Saddle Pouch is, which BTW was dated to around 1982.

I did some Google searching and came up with several other color charts (which BTW were all from TPF!) It is really hard to tell the accuracy of the colors in print--the same color will vary from chart to chart.

Plus, I presume the color on vintage bags will age somewhat--either fade or darken? Is that true?

Either way, blacks can fade to dark grays, and lighter colors can darken. And of course, conditioning will usually darken lighter colors at least temporarily. The rehab experts here can probably be more specific.

Coach's color charts are pretty inaccurate, that's why I don't even try to guess what color a bag is if it's in the tan or light brown family. So I can't answer your question.

The color charts you found on Google are probably the ones I posted here 2 years ago:

Add debbieb208 to your blocked bidder list. Here's the BBL link:
http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?bidderblocklogin&hc=1&hm=uk`1d72f+ijehg6gpd

You know where she's from. If you have a bidder from the same area or if you suspect that she might have circumvented a block (opened another ID, had a friend bid, etc.), you can report her. That's a huge no-no when a blocked bidder bids.

Thank you..what makes this whole thing even worse, is that my good friend & neighbor has owned the ebay store for many years, and he was kind & trusting enough to get me on ebay~ letting me list & sell on his store (when my husband had a stroke, then cancer..and we lost our income etc. etc.) about 2 years ago.. Our styles are completely different,we work separately, but we support each other.. he lives 2 doors down the street , I sell my stuff ,he sells his, but it IS his store..then today he gets all these messages on his phone.. OMG.. I was pretty upset & embarrassed! Luckily for me, he was supportive of me.I have blocked her. I checked etsy again & the listings havent been removed.I would love to let this whole debacle go BUT those etsy listings need to be reported again!! Good Night all..I appreciate your help, advice & support! Take Care & Be Well !!

We don't even have a decent consignment store. I bought a Legacy bag at one about 30 miles away. It wasn't super cheap but it was cheaper than all the MFF stuff they had! I've gone back and they have raised the prices even more. They have MFF stuff priced higher than you would have to pay for it new at the outlet, which is only 30 miles away in another direction!

Even though I haven't found much at thrift stores in California, I just realized that my favorite thrift find was my grape Sonoma that I got outside of Los Angeles at a Goodwill, and I almost never go to Goodwill because they never have anything!

Did you bite the bullet and get the catalogues?
No I didn't. I don't need any more encouragement to look for vintage bags!
