I'm not sure. For my own sanity, I did not save/bookmark the sale. I did, however, block their alter-ego from buying from me again. This person buys under one id, and sells under another. I know a lot of sellers have separate accounts, (probably helps with the accounting), but after I saw this, it just made it seem even more shady. They have bought several bags from me over the last few years. The name seemed familiar, a little searching around, one thing led to another, yadda yadda yadda, you know the rest.

There's enough opportunity out there for honest business. There's no need to be sketchy about it!

Oh, and if that wasn't enough...after they bought my bag? They never even left me feedback!

That's just a downer. It takes a bit of fun out of the hobby (or daily business in some cases). I hope you still rehab and sell despite the bad experience.

Whateve, it isn't anyone that is a regular poster to the rehabber threads. I'm trying to be vague, because I don't want to start a "thing" here with anyone. The bags this person sells are authentic; the history of at least one of them, however, is not!
I totally understand. I'm wondering if you knew you sold it to a tpfer in the beginning.

No, I didn't. I sold it a long time ago, and it was only recently that I figured out what happened. I sold a few other bags, and they were all bought by the same person. I figured they must be a reseller to always jump on my "as is/needs work" auctions, and started looking around for their "shop". When I saw their "shop", I remembered them from TPF.

Honestly, I only started looking because I was just curious to see how well they were selling and did they have anything awesome for sale that I wanted, since we obviously have similar taste? (lol) I don't remember how I figured out the different buyer/seller accounts. When I saw my old bag I was excited, (like bumping into an old friend! "Is that who I think it is? It kind of looks like...no, it can't be...oh, it is! Hello!!!"), and then read the description and audibly gasped and kind of shrieked at my poor hubby "That was MY BAG! Not her Aunt Maude's, it was mine and it was $3 at Goodwill and I have the pictures to prove it!!!"

So, no more sales to that person, because even though they do lovely work, the whole thing is really weird, and I'm full-up on weird in my life.

Ok, now GUTLESS DEB is harrasing me on my ebay site..the 2 fake bags I reported were not taken off etsy, and I don't know if they kept my identity hidden when I reported them.. So,after the 2nd email,I told her not to contact me, that I was just trying to give her helpful info that a creed with an "8" means 1998 and is not from 1960s..( I didnt say that the Patricia was fake, or that I reported it !! ...) Then she comes back with.."I want to see authentication for your bags" Bring it on... except she doesn't believe in TPF..maybe she wants to take them to COACH & have the nice 18 year old SA authenticate them. Ugh!!.I need to block her emails!!
Question is: How is she getting away with keeping all those fake bags on etsy & ebay??..BTW, she believes it was ME that keeps reporting her..so she wrote that the rules should apply to everyone, completely true..right I had a 1996 bag listed as vintage..mea culpa..(I changed the listing to read near vintage)
I did not have a fake bag listed & I did not say it was from the 1960s.. I wrote back " thank you, I appreciate it when someone catches my mistake..peace light & blessings.. "
I am the fallgirl here! I realize I should never have written her..I know~lesson learned.. The angry defensive sellers are the ones with something to hide...PLEASE keep reporting her fakes on ETSY & EBAY!!! too stressfull...thanks all, SHERI
Sheri, I'm sorry for your troubles. My understanding is both Etsy and eBay keep the identify of the person who reports fakes/prohibited items anonymous. This must have been from the message you sent this seller. Speaking of Etsy, they do act on the reported items, which was a surprise to me. I recently reported two "knockoff Dooney" bags and another store. He store's owner advertised it on local Craigslist. Not only the Coach bags she was selling weren't vintage (they were modern bags with tags), she wasn't even local (from Ohio, I think, which is not even close). Well, being too greedy never pays off... now I believe they closed the store completely - the link brings me to the error page. Knockoff Dooneys (from a different seller) have been removed, too.

I'm sorry this happened to you. It is amazing that someone would make up a complete story about "Aunt Maude"! I wonder if that helps her sales.

I think the whole reason they have different buying and selling accounts is so that they buyer won't find out how much they paid originally.

I don't get the lying about the history either. I think they believe buyers are willing to pay more for items that are "family heirlooms" than they'll pay if they think (or know) items come from ebay flips, thrift shops, etc.

My own feeling is that if you don't want to state the source, don't say anything. What's important and really, the only thing that counts is authenticity.

REPORT, REPORT, REPORT -- there's a report button and a "harassment" as a reason for reporting.

Honest sellers who make honest mistakes appreciate a heads up letting them know if they made a mistake. OTOH, sellers who know they have fakes, often don't appreciate being caught, get defensive and blame the messenger for their own dishonesty.

Had she ended her own listings, if for no other reason than to do further research re: authenticity, attention wouldn't have been brought to them and ebay may not have removed them and dinged her account.

Question is: How is she getting away with keeping all those fake bags on etsy & ebay??..

My guess is that once ebay realizes how many times her listings were removed and relisted, she won't get away with it much longer.

BTW, she believes it was ME that keeps reporting her..

I wish it was that easy for one person to report and get a listing removed. Ebay doesn't work that way!

I'll comment in red to your post. I suspect that debbieb208 aka gutsy girls is reading and if she's smart, she'll consider a professional authentication if she doesn't trust TPF. I don't know who else does Coach but Authenticate4U.com has brand specialists.

For the health of her ebay account, she might want to learn about the products she sells. After 4 or 5 listings being removed, she will probably find herself restricted (at best, for a while) or banned (at worst) from listing designer items.

BTW, debbieb208's listing for the fake Patricia bag was removed for the fifth time.

Exactly!!

That's just a downer. It takes a bit of fun out of the hobby (or daily business in some cases). I hope you still rehab and sell despite the bad experience.

I do rehab when I can find decent bags. When I lived near Chicago, I found lots of stuff at Goodwill to rehab, enjoy for awhile, and then resell. We moved to Texas a few months ago, and there is nothing at the thrift stores for a reasonable price. Total bummer! I found so many nice things in Chicago: lots of Coach, Dooney, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, a Tod's D Bag, lots of Brooks Brothers and Burberry ties. When I finally go back to visit, I think I'm going to bring an empty suitcase with the hopes of filling it up with thrift store goodies to take home!

Thank you all for your support! When I wrote toGutsygals/ Deb on Sunday, it was (what I intended) to be a heads up,and a friendly explanation of how to read a creed. As I wrote on Sunday, I am always happy to get help from other sellers/buyers if I make a mistake or exhaust all avenues of research..for example... I asked for info identifying the artist or cooperative that made a 1950s Taxco Bracelet I was selling & someone messaged me with great info. that I couldnt find anywhere, due to the hallmark being worn down.. I am not the COACH Police, or an authenticator.. Anyway,I had to write a lengthy description of why the 2 bags Hyacinth found,( besides the Blue patricia )were not authentic on her ETSY site..Etsy has not removed them . Plus she wrote to me 3 times and asked me "WHY am I attacking her?" so I began to wonder if reporting on ETSY wasn't confidential..I guess she believes(correctly, yes, I did it)) that I reported her fakes.Anyway, She got bored of threatening me..if she wants to purchase my bags I will have them authenticated here..oops, she doesn't believe in TPF....I'm hoping Etsy takes action, I'm hoping no one else gets burned!!
I can't stomach all this blatant disrespect & dishonesty..I seriously can't understand how people can sleep at night, knowing they are taking advantage of other people...then again, We lost everything to Madoff... Thank you all so much!! Be careful..and keep on keeping on! Be well!! Cheers, Sheri

Wow!! That's funny how good finds are so regional. I live near NYC. You would think there would be tons of great designer stuff at goodwill, but there really isn't. : (

Yep, most of California is a thrift wasteland too. Part of it is that the Goodwills and other thrifts sell the good stuff online.

It can be a real drag going in there knowing you aren't going to find anything. There is a coach or two in a case, but nothing that interests me. My only real options are eBay and 'that' consignment store.

Add debbieb208 to your blocked bidder list. Here's the BBL link:
http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?bidderblocklogin&hc=1&hm=uk`1d72f+ijehg6gpd

You know where she's from. If you have a bidder from the same area or if you suspect that she might have circumvented a block (opened another ID, had a friend bid, etc.), you can report her. That's a huge no-no when a blocked bidder bids.

Yes, I've lost my enthusiasm. I only find things when I travel and, even then, it's hit or miss. Two of my favorites were lucky thrift finds, but one of those I could have found on ebay for about the same price.
